One Big Thank You To Everyone Here

Thanks to everyone here for all the great information and the great community. I've been reading a lot on this part of the forum (even though I haven't posted much). There's been a lot of gold that's been shared and I have really been able to make things work with my SEO and web development client business.

If you're still struggling to make it work for you, i'm gonna say that 90% of it is taking action, getting results (positive or negative) then experimenting with your results and making things work.

From my experiences, I absolutely hate cold calling, so I don't really do any of it. I mainly to local marketing and also ad marketing on a national level.

For those starting out, going local is a great way to get off your feet. Local farmers markets and small business groups are gold mines. Be vocal about what you do and how good you are at it. If you attend some community events (church or any other group) you just have to get up and go talk to people.

And don't be too pushy about it. I just let people know what I do and that i'm taking new clients and then people suggest friends or business that could use my services. Then I milk it from there

Anyway, again big thanks for all those who contribute and help others out. It's greatly appreciated and has changed my mindset and my business.

I had not thought of Farmers Markets but yeah it's all good....networking is really a good way to connect with people , local groups, anything that gets your name out there.
Having a good supply of good biz cards is a must, don't leave home without them <grin>

It's amazing to see how many people are afraid to just talk about what they do. Having conversations with people in every day life, taking an interest in them gets them to take an interest in you. I've picked up a lot of business just by telling people what I do, what I want to do, etc.

Usually everyone you talk to, knows somebody that has a business that could use your services. With social media, it seems people forget the value of real, offline connecting.

Yea, I literally try to mention my business to everyone that I talk to. I just strike up a friendly conversation with someone and ask them what they do and bait them into asking me what I do. Baiting is kind of a harsh word IMO, but that's essentially what it is.

If it's someone who i've already talked to I can refresh the topic by asking them how work life is going... and then I can take it from there. I am very well aware of reading peoples body language and not being overly aggressive. If I feel that they don't want to chat about business or work, then I let it go right away. You're never gonna get a recommendation from someone who doesn't enjoy talking with you.
