How do you generate referrals?

I'd like to get a good discussion going about referrals. How do you generate them? And how do you reward people who give them to you?

I have a upsell that I give away free IF you meet specific criteria.
One part of that criteria is 3 referrals that actually become clients.

It was originally just a gimmick idea, but it wound up growing legs
and becoming a very - very strong way to get referral business.

1 quick way, set the expectation in the beginning. There's a lot of ways to even set the expectation..1 way...

Like after you get paid and wrapping it up, that you would like to ask them a favor...if you are thrilled with x or after you do y for them, then all you ask is that you refer x amount of people to me, so you can help their co-worker, partner, friend etc... like you helped them with x issue or problem.

On my direct mail efforts if they gI've my client their letter I will give the original owner 100 dollars.

    That almost never happens though.

How I generate most of my refferals is through interviews.

Ether in person, written or over the phone. Once transcribed I send it to my list and they send it to their list of customers. I also ask them if they can send my refferal kit. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes they say no, but ether way it's a win win.

Also here is a great convo on this here :

Since this is in the "Offline referral generation" topic...

One of my favorites is an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper with this message:

I used to stand here and watch my socks dry, but I found an online
business that got me my own place and a washer and dryer! Want
to see it? WhatEverWebsiteYouAreSellingHere . com

I then put it out one per laundrymat, thumbtacked or taped over the
dryer most easily seen from anywhere in the room...

And I go back once a week and replace it.

I haven't done this in several years but it always got me a lot
of new visitors since I put these in a lot of laundry rooms, like
    in apt complexes...

It works.. Great and is cheap.

Next you can hire someone to put them out for you!

I incentivize them with % of the sale, they can take the cash or they can have equivalent amount deducted from their next month's billing for the service I am offering to them.

Simply ask your client for a referral never hurts. Get a referral card made up and have a client write down 3 names of people they would like to refer and contact info. Let your client know if it is ok to drop there name to start a conversation when you contact the referral.

    Simply ask for them!

You'd be surprised how many sales reps fail to do this, it's just an easy way to open a new door so don't forget to ask for the referral business once your initial deal is completed and your client is happy with your product/service.

Hi, I have my own blog which helps me getting my referrals plus it helps me build my list.
And if I get a large referral from another marketer I send them a FREE gift ebook or a FREE Course on how to get Traffic to their offers etc.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks Matt Feast

You don't have to create whole fuss about referring you, if your service is good enough and if you request them, they would do it without having to do any of these stuff!
