Local Small Business Marketing Strategy

This has probably been asked before, I used the search but couldn't find anything. I have done internet marketing for a few years and am looking to start marketing with local business both online and offline. Does anyone recommend any resources for how to start a marketing business for small businesses, strategy, etc?

Thanks

    Hi..

I have many offline and on line local marketing strategies.. I have started a little niche business offering direct mobile advertising using a bike and trailer.. it cost a little to set up.. (ie) flyers.. sign and trailer.. total cost about £300.. I hire it out for 17.50 per hour minimum 5 hours.. I have calls and e-mails everyday now asking about the service.. Once I confirm a booking I get the money upfront.. and then get someone to ride the bike... I normally make about £60 profit myself from each job and do about 10 jobs a month and growing,, (ie) getting another trailer.. So apart from setting it up.. i sit back... get the orders ..give the rider a briefing job done.. hope that helps a little.. i do have a specific marketing and e-mail system that works great.

    Thanks Netbroker

You can't just offer online and offline marketing to these businesses.

If I were you I'd select a particular thing to do, what are you best at? How can you best help these people?

Choose a service, them find people who need your help with it and offer it to them using a method that you are comfortable with and is efficient, it's not as difficult as most people make out.

This whole section of the forums is about "offline" marketing. I agree you need to know what you are going to market - generally some skill you possess yourself. You also will probably need to be willing to sell...cause despite the fact people try to get around it, most of the stuff here requires a certain level of sales ability.

Well some of us actually live here and work here (usa)

I prefer to work where I live and where I 'know" people and know the market

Many clients prefer "local" - they have been burnt by long distance - I have had clients whose social media and websites were a mess with fake bot likes, stilted mis-spelled English, tons of people from around the world that are of no use to a local business

I have had to help people regain their accounts, passwords, etc from long distance and foreign "gurus', I even had to help a guy get back his google plus and adwords that were sort of held hostage by a guy he found on Craigslist who lives in Michigan

I just showed another local why his social media is "not working" for him...i doubt he will get service calls from Mumbai and Kuala Lampoour and from "bots' in Europe
      LOL

the ppc guys says "buy ads"....the text message guy says "use text messages"....and so forth and so forth.....see I don't sell anything here...so when I give (free) advice it is honest..sometimes it might not be what folks want to hear...but it is to the best of my ability.

They do have a paid ad section here ....maybe that will work for you?

      Yawn

The first advise I will give you is do not call random businesses. Everyone is doing that, instead create a target list of 100 possible dream clients. I learned the Dream 100 Strategy from the late Chet Holmes. Then create a multistep multimedia marketing strategy using email, direct mail and calling to reach these prospects. This way you'll get momentum and brand awareness and turn as many of those prospects from your Dream 100 prospect list into clients.

So lets start with what you know. You have stated you have been doing internet marketing for a few years. what are your strengths? where have you gotten results? how can this be presented and utilized by your now potential offline market prospects?

Any time that you can walk in with a level of confidence based on past positive results, it just makes life easier. here are my past results.. here is what I can do for you. simple simple stuff.

A very good example of this... My wife runs an e-bay based business. She buys cheap and sells on e-bay for a profit. There are times it is difficult to find items in this model. She has began approaching business' to assist them in dumping dead inventory. The business wants to get rid of it, and she has become the avenue in which they can do this.

I would say that 90% of the business' that she approaches are offering here product below to well below cost. In the end both parties are happy.

She went in to local business' to provide an online solution for offline business based on her experience. Here is what I do, these are the results that I have gotten. How can I assist you Mr. / Mrs. Business owner to get the same results?
