Brick and Mortar Store - Website

Hello,

I am in the process of creating a website for a local hardware store. As of now there will be no sales through the website. However, the purpose of the site is to bring in more customers in the surrounding area.

This is my first time building a website. I will probably go with 99 designs.
My question is what are some key components that should be included.

As an idea ...

Homepage > store front image, map of location of the store and snippets of blog posts.
Products > general categories images (paint, tools, gardening, plumbing, etc)
About Us > Information about when founded and who serves the market.
How to > Blog about how to do things.
New > New about local events.
Contact Page >

In your experience what's the best way to draw new customers into the store...
Thank you.

Blog with local content. Adding a blog to a site and maintaining it can bring in 50% more traffic.

Also, I had a horrible experience with 99Designs. The quality was very low.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

Totally agree with Ghoster. A blog attached to the website, provided it is updated frequently, will engage customers and potential customers. I would also record videos of specials or demos and post them to a YouTube Channel with an embedded video window in the website. Probably the Home Page with...Special This Week...

Just a couple of ideas. Good luck!

Blogging, definitely. But make sure that you do it consistently. Otherwise, it can bring about negative impacts to your page.

Do explore social aspects even in a limited form. Allowing people to give feedback and suggestion is a good idea.
