Cheapest way to create a networking event?

Hello Warriors,
I'm willing to build a networking event in my city.
Our whole country (Italy) doesn't have any kind of networking event (not the kind of networking events you usually have).
What would be the cheapest way to organize one?
Because this is the first time I'm into this and I am not sure if it will be worth it.

Thank you,
Andrea

    • Did you read and understand the question?

Where does 'cheapest way' come into play in your post?

  • Check out these guys....they have done an excellent job creating Networking Events in US cities.

Network After Work - Business/Professional Networking Events

Mostly through LinkedIn and Facebook Ads
  • I guess you have taken a good step & it would be helpful for your country as well. There are many ways to build a network for an event. But for instance you can use social media & also using some commercial sites on which you can post your event.
  • What is BAIA, the Business Association Italy America

    Home

BNI is too structured for me - only one from any profession, and you have to bring leads all the time, and expensive to join.... But, some ideas and presence.

I like the network after dark folks sdentrepreneur presented and meetup.com

It seems there would have to be groups like our Chambers of Commerce or tourism promotions groups already that you could spring off of.
  • I've never done well with networking events.

I have found that most of them are meat markets. There always seemed to be a bunch of women who were more interested in hooking up sexually than economically. I don't mind a little flirting but gee wiz.

The best networking I have done is eating breakfast where the players eat. In the South, where I live, it is usually a place that is far from the nicest in town. The nice places in town are where the realtors, lawyers, salaried marketing execs and other people who live above their means eat. No thanks.

I am getting ready to move to a small town about an hour away to be closer to my wife's family. I have already identified the place where the business owners eat. It is a place called the back porch and it ain't anything special to look at.

BUT the guys who are eating there are pulling in some serious cash and if you can talk football, take a joke and tell a joke, you can get in with those guys.

So yeah if anyone wants to do some networking but avoid the 23 year old girls doing the "social media" for some company who are looking to find a man to take care of them, find the place where breakfast is being served country style.
