$5k marketing budget - Advice needed

I have $5k set aside to invest in a new marketing campaign...I'm looking to target restaurant owners, I sell web design.

I plan on running email marketing campaigns, direct mail, and cold calling.

Please give me advice on additional marketing opportunities I should target? Thanks!

How have you been getting business before now? Does this campaign fit with that?

Or, can you use that $5k to increase what has already been working?

Do you have restaurants as clients already, or would this be a new market?
$5k is a lot to spend to find they are (or are not) your ideal client type.
(I found my local ones to be inconsiderate of my time, and low budget. I was
not in a position to want to work for drinks or meals-not a great benefit to me.)

Are you a one man show, or do you have good team in place?
Must be able to fulfill well. $5k would be a lot to spend for a
one man show when all you need to do is call or walk-in or network.

On the other hand, if you want to specialize in this market,
you could build up your web presence to POSITION yourself
    as expert in this niche.

I hate cold calling...so I would run some Facebook Ads, only target business owners in your community. Run some type of free web site analysis or low cost basic website. Then up sell from there.

I would also attend some local Networking Groups and pick up a few clients from there.

Lastly, maybe a VERY targeted direct mail campaign to your area or niche. You will need VERY good copy writing and Call To Action

The holidays are a great time to do some unique target marketing.

I would split that budget up and target a specific niche. Service providers like doctors, lawyers, daycare centers, etc. would respond great to a direct mail campaign. Where as startups, bloggers, entrepreneurs would respond best to digital ads on reputable websites, forums, etc.

      Best of luck to you!

I would do exaclty what i did
Create a business directory for your niche (restaurant owner)
    find coordonate of them
email them to offer them free premium access to your directory

I just sold $2K more this morning for a total of $7K in 15 days of starting that strategy

Congrats landing more clients. Are you using the Ninja directory theme?

Btw, your name sound very familiar. Did you once own a product called wp directory plugin years ago?

Go with PRweb.com press releases are the way to go you can set one up for 12 releases for 12 months for $3600. do that along side other inbound marketing tactics such as vlogs, blogs, and email marketing. avoid social media. Content marketing is king.

    Hi,
You can as well using the social media platform when you want to reach to a wider area. This is because the social media is always active and vibrant. The budget to place an ad of Facebook is relatively cheaper compared to other marketing forums. recently, I have discovered also that Instagram is offering marketing opportunities thus you can use such like platforms to reach out to very many persons and convert them to potential clients. They are some of the key areas that people have failed to utilize. With web design, you can come up with nice picture to illustrate your services. It is worth trying.

You might want to consider 'mobile app creators' - you can create a rewards program for small businesses, like restaurants... and 'pitch' them a service that enables them to communicate weekly or monthly coupons, discounts, or vouchers through a simple opt-in (QR Code that customers scan with their smart phone) - once they've opted-in, you deliver 'rewards' via SMS messaging or through email using an autoresponder.

When you sell the business a mobile package, you can include a website, hosting, mobile app containing menu's, daily specials, address, phone, contact info (for online take-out orders)... And create and manage their lead generation, and rewards programs.

I purchased Zapable mobile app creator for $297, and if you look into Brick&Mobile Kevin Z has complete wifi options, iBeacon technologies, and a complete offline business ecosystem for $5,000.

I would recommend looking at Google Adwords and Facebook Ads, you will need large companies to buy ads from since it's so targeted, i'm worried that these are the only 2 that might have enough traffic for you.

If you know what you are doing when it comes to PPC advertising,
I'm with the guys who say Bing, Google, or Facebook ads. LinkedIn
    as well.

But first really get your USP down for the niche. Express how you
solve restaurant owners problems and target your ideal restaurant
client types. Maybe offer a range of services for the local, local restaurant
to the destination restaurant experience - like The Fort Restaurant - Denver's favorite western restaurant in Colorado.

Also, from Russ Ruffino's webinar about getting 5 clients in five days:
If you have an email list or Social Media following, send a one question
survey asking them, "What is your biggest ______________ problem today?"
(The blank space being tailored to the type of business.)
Then come up with a solution that solves that problem and offer it to your list/following.

Was this the only statement emailed out to the list? Is there an intro or point of reference
other than this question sent to the recipient?

I'm concluding whoever received this question via email that's experiencing a serious business problem of sorts would answer the question.

That was the only question in the survey. He did not address the language of the email
the survey is attached to. I think it would be something simple along the lines of
"Help me help you by answering this one question survey."
I receive emails from the likes of Kern that just say "I need your help." in the subject line.

I corrected my post. (Thought I did earlier.) The survey question
should be "What is your biggest ____________ problem today?"

    Hi,

If it was me, I would incorporate a mix between targeted Facebook Advertising and A mobile display campaign implementing click to call ads. It gives you such and advantage when the potential client calls you directly giving you a chance to close the deal personally. Just my 2cents

I have sold web design services to restaurant owners successfully in the past and it didn't cost $5k! All you need to get started is print some business cards and get out there and network - visit local restaurants and get chatting to the owners. Maybe take them a box of chololates and some examples of your previous work. Takes a little effort but you will generate work very quickly this way, and find the businesses that desperately need your services.

You need to provide your services to one restaurant for free
You need to get a stunning result for the restaurant
Use your $5K to video the whole process
Then you can promote to restaurants based on proven results
