Robo Calls To Sell Google SEO Services

I just received a Robo call, with a very pleasant woman's voice. I'm paraphrasing here;

"Hello, I'm Sandy, calling about your Google local listing placement. You may be entitled to a page one Google listing, with unlimited free leads, and preferred listings. If you would like to know if your local business qualifies for this service, please press #1. If you wold like to be taken off of this list, lease press #2".

Frankly, I get similar calls more than once a day. No, I didn't press #1 to hear more. It may go to a rep, it may go to a recorded message, I don't know. But...if it went to another recording, asking questions, and qualifying further, and the third "press #1) went to a rep, I see how this might get qualified leads...

But I was wondering if anyone has used this as a way to generate leads.

Years ago, I had a friend in Columbus Ohio that sold water purification systems, and he had a message about getting the water tested, The computer called maybe 1,000 numbers a day, and recorded all the responses. After you deleted the "drop dead" responses, he would get about 3 or 4 leads a day. Maybe one was qualified, and he had his solid appointment for the day. Half of them bought a $5,000 water purification system. It was his only prospecting system for a few years (until he called everyone locally a dozen times, and the results trailed off)

Anyway, thoughts? Experiences?

    Not outbound robo calls Claude,
but recorded messages when phoned in
then press 1 to buy from a rep at a outsourced call center.

The callers were sent a cheap postcard and names came from a rented list of buyers of biz op programs in his price range which was usually under $100.

The postcard and voice message needed to be top notch because the live person would be really just a order taker.

As for the product, he would often take a digital one and turn it into paper and ink.

If you want more details on how he does it all,
let me know and I'll pass on what I know.

    Best,
    Doctor E. Vile

The company doing it is most likely local light house. They are getting sued in multiple class actions now across the country for violating telemarketing laws and are getting sued by Google.

Its probably not a good idea.

I use to use it for collections... you have to burn alot of numbers but it does work in certain situations. I was able to turn around our collections department at the fundraising room I managed by incorporating it.

We couldnt afford to keep a whole team of callers for collections because contact rates and conversions were so much lower. Robo calls weeded out the ones we could catch and convert, easily. I was able to put 3 -4 telemarketers back on the cold floor. So , basically, it replaced 3-4 collections telemarketers.

It's around $100 for a 15 second call to 10,000 numbers. Worst case scenario you spent a couple hundred testing it out.

That sounds about right. Those are realistic numbers, and well worth it. You just turn the machine on and let it burn for a couple of hours.... later on you check the messages and there are 3-5 leads usually (ei; people requesting that you call them). I think it's great if your market is big enough that it allows you to burn alot of numbers. If your market is limited in numbers , cold calling is better.

Personally, I prefer to receive a robo call, because it's easier to hang up if I'm not interested. If Im interested I will listen. It gives me the option of only talking to someone if I want to.

This is a very interesting advertising method. Where and how do you go about setting this up? For example I am in the US where could I go to get the list of numbers to contact?

No idea. I've never done it. You can buy lists of phone numbers from any list company. Industry specific, area specific. Just Google ".Mailing list company"

I just Googled. "robocall company" and got several companies that will make these calls for you.

I prefer robo calls because then I know just to hang up immediately. Saves me time. Don't even have to feel any remorse because there's no real person there.

You actually feel remorse for hanging the phone up on a person that knows that he is bothering you by calling?

Even if you go by Claude's stats, 996 people were bothered, 4 weren't.

As a former cold calling telemarketer myself I happen to respect the other human people on the lines more than a robot. I don't know why, maybe something about them trying to make a living or take food back to their kids or something.

You clearly feel differently. Good for you.

If a telemarketer gets their feelings hurt by someone hanging up on them, they are in the wrong business.

Telemarketers aren't calling people to make friends, they are calling to sell things. Getting hung up on means they didn't waste time on someone with no intentions of buying wasting their time with needless conversation.

The opposite is true too. The telemarketers who want to tell me a story or joke or have a long speech get hung up on. The only ones I ever listen to and possibly engage with are the ones who respect my time and tell me what they are offering in a couple quick sentences.

Same here. I get about 10-15 robo calls a day, and maybe that many live cold calls.

The absolute worst thing you can do, is not get to the point. Who are you, what do you have......

A guy called me today and started, "Hi Claude, many investors today are confused by the .....". In years past, I may have told him how he could have actually kept me on the phone, and maybe sold me something...but I just hung up.

Honestly, I don't mind the interruption....we all sell something. But what I mind is wasting the time.

Yes, I know how telemarketing works. There's a wide array of ways to deal with them between listening to their entire pitch and just straight up hanging up on them. I typically choose to treat them well and let them go rather than the straight dump. Again, you're free to treat them as you wish, as am I. Not sure why we're even having this discussion.

My stats were from robot calls. In person calls would get a far better result.

And if you hang up on a robo call, you aren't hanging up on anyone.

          Noted.

Now out of those people who didn't buy, were you able to get over the deep pain infliced upon you by those who hung up?
