How to advertise Smartphone business on facebook - Looking for creative ideas

Some of you might remember me from some of my older posts about my marketing company, some of you may not.

Today I am not here to talk about my marketing company, or marketing tactics we are using, but to get some creative ideas for advertising a different kind of business I have recently become a part of.

Long story short;

In the recent months, I have come into ownership of a decently sized chain of Smartphone repair/retail stores. I won't bore you with the details but to put it short, I have the marketing down pat. Our search engine rankings are great, and business is doing well. During a meeting yesterday it came to my attention that our social media presence is lacking very bad.

Social media marketing has not been my cup of tea from the beginning but for this type of business, it's definitely a very effective tool for marketing and should not be looked over. This is why I have decided to seek the help of my long lost friends here at the Warrior Forum.

Bottom line - We need to boost our social media presence.

- My first thought was to build up our following to the facebook page. Right now our likes are suffering. I do plan to use facebooks paid advertising to grow the page.

But this is about where my thoughts come to an end. I'm not really sure what the 'recommended' way to build a following is...

Promote the page for likes?
Setup a sponsored post promoting a discount for a page like as well as a main offer?
Boost our organic posts?

I have a decent budget, but am not looking to waste it.

We sell and repair hundreds of smartphones each month so I would think having a large facebook following and using our facebook page as craigslist would be effective? IE. a new phone shipment arrives, we could post for sale ads on our facebook page offering our followers a 10% discount, free charger, free accessories etc. Am I on the right track here?

I'm not looking to be spoonfed, I will make this work regardless so don't think I'm asking for you to hold my hand, those that do remember me, know I'm not like that.

But helpful advice from you seasoned marketers in Social Media would be greatly appreciated.

I will follow this thread and reply to each response. All of your advice will be taken in

Happy New Year!

I can answer what you need to do in one word, CONTENT. A successful social media campaign is not getting in and boosting an offer or a discount.. that only lasts days. I would suggest a long term approach of Content development aimed right at your target audience.

I would first start with I better than decent camera, or cameras ( go pros work well ) Ensure they are HD. ( keep game console viewers in mind - 50" screens ) Get decent lighting and pay the bucks to create a nice looking backdrop. Video editing software, get a nice intro and outro... be professional with the process

I am assuming you have employees... A 20 something be it a young lady or a guy - or maybe one of each - good looking but not overly and start creating good solid branded video content. You are a repair shop.. start there... Quick fixes for phone X then Y then Z. ( your phone locked up, how to reset it type stuff ) How to get the most out of your <insert phone here> How to take the best possible photos ( insert check out our Instagram page for examples )

If you were my client I would suggest 2x a week at the least.. and might even try to push the 5x a week barrier up front and taper back a bit to maybe 3 a week.

You should be joining all of the local facebook groups you could. Ensure to friend all of the brands you carry.. this will give you constant content you can share on your feed.

I find that using the ratio of 5 quality content posts and 1 quality not slam bam thank you ma'am sales efforts is a good mix of content.

You have to stay consistent consistent consistent. if you release content Monday Wednesday and Friday.. you had better do just that. Release it on YouTube, and link to it from facebook.

    Hope that Helps

In terms of visual content...hundreds of repairs a month?

How about a "Screen Crack of The Week (or day) " with the story of how it got that way?

And be sure to include the AFTER picture to demonstrate your services.

I think the ideas above are great for branding purposes! However i will tell you that paid search ( google, bing and yahoo for the older folks lol) works awesome for CPR shops. I have a client spending 2k a month on adwords averaging 400 calls a month. His social media presence wasnt his focus, however it did grow organically with praise from paid search traffic and deals such as like our page get a free case ( he was paying like .25 a case) Has made me thinking of getting into the biz

For advertising your business on Facebook, you have to create ads of your business and post them in different groups, pages and comments of high traffic posts to give awareness about your business to the people.

Encourage your regular customers to rave about you in their groups. Maybe offer them and their referrals exclusives.

Don't go after likes per se because once people like you, that's about all they do.
