A Great Way to do Money on the Phone with Offline Marketing and a Niche Directory by helping client

I'm doing website from the beginning of the internet, had a rough time to make money until i learned marketing and coach myself to success with the help of lot of peoples.

Now let me show you what what don't work and what work.

What is not working or at least not very well..
Call someone:
You:
He Mr prospect, i i'm Jimmy from xyz business, i would like to help you with my great products that are so awesome because we are the leader in bla bla bla...CLICK. DONE. KAPUT . HANG UP lol

What work now:
You:
Call someone in a niche, whatever, let's say cars
He Mr prospect, i'm Jimmy from "Find a Cars.com", i would like to put your cars on our website for free so you can sell more of them"

Prospect: Oh really mmm interesting, why are you doing this really, i don't understand ?

It's just that we're a small business that do webdesign and marketing and it's by helping our clients that we have the most success, that's the new marketing way.

Client: Oh really, marketing he, you know, tell me more about .....
----------

It's all about helping the clients do what he need with small thing to after be able to up-sell your services. Top mind marketing is kind of not working that good, you'r much better with the utility marketing model.

Help your prospect like a friend would do and they will treat you like friends. Now who do you think they will buy from, a stranger or their new friend ?

Enjoy

So you are saying set up practical directory style sites, rank them with SEO and offer free additional marketing power to tempt potential customers, so yes I can see this working, a bit like offering a free high quality report for IM people so they give you their email, or some other type of value freebie.
    Thanks for the insight!

I like where you are going with this.

So let's say you get up a decent directory, have 50-100 businesses in it. Then what specific services do you offer those businesses?

Depending on the niche and the area it covers, that's not much of a directory.

Additionally, the first questions you will be asked is, "How is the directory being promoted? Why is it I have never heard of it?'

You need to think this through. It sounds great, but pulling it off successfully is a full-time job. Directories are one of the most misunderstood business models out there. The concept is simple, the implementation - not so much. If you research the topic, you will discover this for yourself and won't need to take my word for it, which I never suggest to anyone to do. :-)

Additionally, almost off of the directory scripts and themes currently on the market are total crap and have not been thought through. Once you start to utilize them, their shortcomings quickly become apparent, leaving you frustrated and your potential clients very unimpressed and disappointed.

My experience with this approach goes like this:

    1. Telling someone that something is free waves a red flag and the consider it a come-on and are immediately distrustful, creating even more of an obstacle to overcome.

    2. Telling them that something you are offering is totally free instantly gives the impression to them that what you are offering has no value or you would not be giving it away at no cost.

Asking them where their pain lies and showing them how you can relieve it is the absolute best marketing technique. Then, after you sell them something, give them something for free to show your appreciation for their business and their trust.

Be sure to send them an invoice for the free service or product you provided showing the normal price and a 100% 'professional courtesy' discount to remove the effects of point #2, above.

And be sure to ask for a referral or two. :-)

    Cheers. - Frank
