Best channels to market photography tours

Hi, I'm a photographer who has realized the market is becoming saturated with photographs, and selling them is nearly an impossible way to make a living. What is also increasing, however, are the number of amateur photographers that want to improve. So I want to start a business leading tours to locations in exotic destinations. This is nothing new, pretty much every photographer out there is trying to do this these days, for the same reasons.

My marketing budget will be $2000/month. My target is landscape photographers. I'll focus on high-quality, small group tours no more than 7 people. I'll offer just 12 tours the first year, so I'm looking to make just 84 sales to sell out. My breakeven point on the business is 36 sales.

I'm looking for the most effect marketing channels into which to put my $2000/month. Please let me know where you think I should start, and why, and how exactly to test and evaluate the results as I go along, thanks!

Maybe set up a JV with your local camera shop and travel agency...I have a travel agency that looks to be different by doing travel tours with their travel guides to many places in the world...Your service fits in perfectly with these local businesses...

    How about joining https://landscapephotographymagazine.com/

Another thought is maybe create a beginner game that is based upon taking photos of the local city landscape. I created this as a fun game but you could use the idea as a tool to get people in your tour. You might critique the submitted photos and advertise your landscape tours...http://photobycity.com/

    Just my 2 cents...RR

So you live in an exotic hot spot...How do you live without knowing at least some of the local language? Maybe this would be a possible opportunity ...https://www.toursbylocals.com/

Have you looked into Facebook ads and setting up a sales funnel there?

  • I didn't say that, I said I am not fluent. Would you travel half way around the world to take a technical learning course on a subject that was led by someone who was not fluent in your language?

Point being, it would be a waste of time to partner with local on the ground travel agencies.

Is this really the best anyone can think of? This is such a broad question, I would think there would be lots of ideas here.

I apologize if I have offended you and I am sorry that my suggestions don't fit your ideal goals. I thought we were brainstorming marketing ideas, which means every idea has some merit.

Good luck on your venture, RR
