How to Advertise Specialized B2B Manufacturer

A good friend of mine owns a company that builds testing equipment for the manufacturing industry. He basically builds the machines that pound on things a million times to see when they will fail.

His company is now in its 25 year and he has never had to advertise, but we were talking the other day and he brought up the idea.

Being that his niche is so specialized, what would be the best way to advertise?

He does have a decent website that lists all of their products and services.

My inclination would be to find the SIC codes of his existing customers, then send some type of mailing to that list.

What say you?

    This is clearly a service that is used by a small number of companies, a majority of SMBs would not require his services. I would definitely recommend a customized direct mail in a standard letter format, not a postcard, then someone from his team can follow up on each mailer with a call, and continue the sales cycle.

      I'm also thinking it would be important to only send those letters where we know the exact person to send it to within the organization.

      Aside from direct mail, what other marketing avenues would be appropriate?

        Terry - No problem, happy to help you all out! I would also recommend reaching out to this organization as they have connections with many manufacturing companies and host conferences yearly. Typically, they will allow you to sponsor one of their conferences, sponsor their email marketing campaigns, etc. Definitely check them out.

    Make a list of all manufacturer and contact them with the help of email marketing campaign, you can marketing with database marketing. join the expo and advertise and trade show as well, participate in trade show event.
