Copy for an in store review request

Hi all,
New to this forum, looking forward to learning a lot here!

I work in a mens clothing store, and we're working on getting more reveiws (yelp, FB, google).
I'd like to put a sign on the door, which customers will see on their way out, requesting that they consider leaving a review for us.
How would you word it?

"We hope you loved shopping here!
Share your impression online: (insert the social icons here)"

Is there a more effective way to word it, or more effective way to go about getting more reviews?

Most of our customers love shopping here, and would gladly leave a review, but I don't want to come across pushy or salesy by asking for one straight out when they're checking out. I want the request to be subtle, but enough that they'll know we'd appreciate it if they'd write one.

Thanks!

    Hi Esther,

    Welcome to the forum.

As for wording don't use "We hope" - Just say "Thank you"

You can always add a small insert to the bag during checkout that encourages reviews.

In the past we've used words like "If you love your purchase please tell the world" If you hate it please tell us so we can fix things up" Remember we guarantee your satisfaction.

Over the years my business has tested and done a number of things to help encourage reviews and the most successful method that is working for us right now is via email followup.

You do need to have an email list of customers and some automated system set up to make this function well.

We use a combination of a loyalty system where we reward customers and as part of this loyalty system we know when our customers purchase.

Then we followup via automated reply sequence using ActiveCampaign where we first thank them in one email. In that email we tell the customer we'll be sending another email in a few days to followup and ask for their opinion.

In the second email we ask for a review.

In the review email do have a star rating and comments box with a submit button straight from the email.

These reviews get automatically added to our website but the spin off is some people prefer to go to Google to leave the review and this is one of the options from within the email.

We track the opens and clicks and also have several conditions set up to segment the customer when they receive or act on these emails.

If they leave a positive review on our website review from within the email they get an automatic bonus generated added to their account and we email them thanking them for the review.

If they click the link to leave a google review instead we send a different thank you generated from within our CRM with a coupon they can use in store.

It helps to use multiple methods because some people will respond to different messages. Sometimes there is no trackable response but then a review shows up.

The other thing you should be doing is either using something like Mention to track what people are saying about you or you can just set up Google alerts.

    Best regards,

    Ozi
