What type of marketing is this?

My friends and I are web developers and we know that this university advises its film and music students to have web presence. We would like to provide that service to their students, but dont have the budget to do marketing.

Is it possible for the university do tell its students about our service and take a commission or part of the sales ?

Would this called a advertisement or partnership ?

I think you might have the wrong idea about what a university would be happy to do.

The University has the leads for you in the form of film and music students.

They would be providing you leads.

You might find they would recommend you if you were offering a free service and there are many reasons why giving them a free web presence could be a good thing for your business in the future.

You would be building goodwill with a group of people who are starting out in their careers and if you support them now you could benefit in the long term particularly if a few of the students become successful or well connected.

I'd suggest you offer some sponsorship to the university.

Offering to pay them commission comes across as a bit unprofessional.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

I might suggest you do have a budget for marketing... Music and film classes in most of the colleges and Universities I goto tend to have their classes centrally located. Most of these buildings have bulletin boards where you could post your offerings direct to the students.

Many of these facilities have festivals and shows specifically for these departments. It could be possible to reach out and have the ability to have a booth or table at these events.

Is it possible ( I am asking due to the lack of funds ) that you are students at the same school, but in a different department? You could reach out to a professor from your department with further guidance.

I have found that running ads in school papers is pretty cheap... if you and "your friends" all skipped lunch a day or 2 a month you could probably afford an ad.

Do your home work and see if the University you want to target has "Cultural Student Organizations". Might be a place you could get involved and potentially reach your prospect audience.

Facebook is pretty free. YouTube is pretty free. Instagram is pretty free. They all may require some work... but may be worth it in the long run.

Forget about the funds.. do you have the willingness and drive?

    hey fella,
yes you can do that without any budget, but you need a conference room and give them a solid presentation about why they all need a web presence and why it is important for your business or future employment.

Just offer a free seminar to their students on how to create a web presence. Tell them everything. At the end, just tell them that you can do it for them if they want. And spend the last ten minutes explaining what you'll do, ad how much it costs. Have order forms ready. Sign them up there.
