May I pick your brains? How to convince ad agencies to use our Recording studio

Hi fellow warriors, I am hoping to get some creative input here .. hope you don't mind my picking your brains.

I own a recording studio - we mostly record bands and solo musicians but we also connected to an ad agency and did some jobs for TV and radio ads.

Now we'd like to do a bit more of that. So here's the question I am pondering - how do I convince ad agencies to use our recording studio instead of the ones they are using now ..

A friend of mine who used to work for ad agencies said, the only way was: Finding out the name of the art buyer, mailing in a portfolio (not email), follow up on the telephone, ask for a date for a presentation or just talk, and the hope ... He said sometimes these people are in a hurry for a quick alternative to their usual studios and then they might remember having talked to you and may give you a call.

This is something I'll try - however, maybe you have some ideas I could also try?

And what would you say - start off with smaller agencies only? To get some routine on the talks? Or dive right in and contact the whales?

I also though about targeting smaller businesses who do not have an ad agency and do all their advertising on their own (only, will they be able to afford radio and TV spots at all? Probably not)

The only way I can think of finding such businesses is by google ads .. though I suspect word of mouth to be the way people find and choose a recording facility.

I'll appreciate all your comments and ideas - sometimes outsiders see so much more than me - I have gotten a bit 'blind' after ten years of doing marketing for my business ...

Make them an irresistible offer... 50% off (or whatever percentage you know will have a significant impact) their first project with you.

This will allow you to demonstrate in a real setting your technical and social skills.

I think you have answered your own question, in the highlighted part above. You may find that a discount is less important than availability. It's been years since I've worked in a recording studio, but I remember availability in some of the better ones, being an ongoing problem.

I'm pretty convinced that word of mouth is dead.

You have to set up a targeting campaign with facebook ads: if you can find the name of some art buyer, you can target a lookalike group.

I mean you have to build a mail list of these buyers, or people who do the work by their own, seeking for an agency, and then create a short VIDEO asking for their email, and a follow up sequences trying to persuade the to purchase from you.

Create a sort of UPS (maybe targeting those who wanna change their agencies, or those who puts 'like' to other agencies fb page) telling them what you have different than others.

Create a compelling video which persuade them to ask for more info, by putting their mail.

I see. So, when was it exactly that people stopped talking to each other?

Word of mouth isn't dead, at least not in my part of the world and how businesses find their clients in my line of work ...

But I find your ideas interesting. How would you go about building a lookalike group? I am not quite sure what you mean by this. Yes, I can probably find an art buyer on fb, but how would I use this as a targeting instrument? How do I build a lookalike group?
How would you target agencies who want to change their recording facilities? They're not likely to post this fact on facebook ...
