Phone number gathering & auto voicemailing

Hello again WF

I learned something a few months ago - "Never say no to a clients request" ... so, I had a client ask me last week if there was a way to gather mass phone numbers pending on which street someone lives and shoot voicemails out to each person.
1 - is this possible?
2 - is this legal?
Thanks in advance WF

      Thanks Haris,
I should have been more specific with my question.
I need to know how to do this if you have any idea as well.
      Thanks again

You are in the US - 'do not call' lists. I would not take legal advice from another country...or from a forum for that matter. Others might not be as cautious.

Not sure how the clients request would fit into those restrictions or how closely the laws are enforced.

You're talking about robo-calling. It's an annoying practice that is driving people nuts, and it now has a bullseye on it for regulation.

Kay already mentioned DNC lists, but here's another thing to consider before your prospect heads to the dark side...

More and more people are abandoning landlines in favor of their mobile phones. Unsolicited commercial calls to mobile numbers are a violation of the law subject to fines up to $1500 each. Unless your locale is different, and I doubt it is, there is no shortage of contingency lawyers ready and willing to take a piece of that action.

Alright, so this project sounds like a bust.
What would be the best alternative to get in front of homeowners pending on their location (preferably as granular as what street they live on) fast and cost-effectively?

My guess was Facebook ads. Unfortunately, my clients really underestimate the power of a well written FB ad with a split tested landing page.
    What are your thoughts, WF?

There are an unlimited number of potential future selves. Are you going to become the one you want to be? or the one that just... is?

Think about going old school and doing a postcard mailing.

The "kid on a bike" idea is another option, distributing inexpensive fliers on selected streets.

Give people the option of picking up the phone or going online.

Wow, ironic, just found this while browsing Google News. The article is dated today.

    ...and they're also from Florida.

The Federal Communications Commission Thursday finalized its largest robocalling fine in history against Adrian Abramovich, a Florida man who is charged with making nearly 100 million spoofed robocalls in just three months.

WHY PEOPLE DO NOT DO LEAD GENERATION?

And rely on this cold calling, automate calling to people obviously not interested in what they have to sell?

Why do you feel the need to tell anyone else how they should target their prospects?

To be fair, the post is on the front page. But also, targeting online isn't the only way to sell things. I was a door to door salesman and a car salesman while I was reading and learning about digital marketing and I truly believe most high ticket items need person-to-person contact to sell.

Yep. That was my point. There's more than one way to do things. And, they all work.
The poster I referenced, was criticizing those who prospect using a well known and acceptable method, that works. He may be in the wrong forum.

Possible, may be legal but bad idea. K noted Do Not Call lists. I'd add, cold calling is rough. Numbers approach. Random strategy. Try something else and hmmm.....saying No to clients is a good thing sometimes if they are difficult or have fear-based ideas tossed your way. From my experience. But if you do say yes, good deal on coming to the forum to vet.
