Do you think a business card can have an impact on the customer number an on the sales?

Hi,
I need opinions about that. My husband is trying to convince me that if I will send also a business card together with my handmade products it will increase the sales and my customers' number. I think that my product is already a kind of business card so why I should give them another one which the clients will throw away?

    I think your husband is right, but you have to think how would you like to do this. You need to design these business cards first

    Consider it branding like when buying a tshirt or sunglasses, they usually have a brand/tag/label attached to the product.

    I also think he is right, I would also consider adding a loyalty aspect to the back as well, "As a loyal customer use this coupon code to save 10% off your next purchase". or similar / use it promote upcoming product launches "New line available this spring pre order now and save" or "As a loyal customer your Christmas savers coupon code is xyxz" and so on.

      Customer loyalty is a rarity these days, so this is an ideal way to get and keep it. You never know -- your customer could pass the business card with the coupon code over to a friend who stops buy to admire the work you did for him or her. You could get a new customer from the referral.

    The customer may choose to put the card in their purse or wallet, therefore allowing them to see the card every time they open it up.

    Any tool used to get the customer's attention is very useful.

    Remember it is all of the SMALL things that count

    YES to a business card.....Last week I placed an order for $70 for printer ink. I was very happy with the 'off brand' I bought a few months ago...but no card and no ad in package so I have no idea what site I purchased from. The products themselves were unlabeled, too.

    If you want repeat sales put something in the package that I can hold on to, make a note on and FIND when I want to order again. Easy to keep a small card - not so easy to keep packaging.

    Business cards greatly affect people's perception of a product or a service. It connotes professionalism. It also lets your customers know that you are open for communication and you value their feedback even after the goods have been delivered. I once received a thank you card together with the product that I ordered with my name on it. The card in itself is generalized but when they wrote my name (which is handwritten by the way), it became personal. Nothing beats a business owner who is able to connect with their customers using a simple gesture like that. It tells me that I am valued and makes me want to order again.

  • Another option would be if you include a catalog of your products. Show them what else you have in store and entice them to buy more.

    Another option is to maybe include a discount coupon or gift certificate on their next purchase =)

    Adding a catalogue is even better. The old offline and print advertising is still alive. You just have to explore it with the online marketing techniques.

    There are some food courts here which deliver food with their catalogue. Whenever we think of getting food again, we simply reach out to their brochure and look for our favourite item. A phone call is mostly followed after that.

    Rather than a generic catalouge, do what Amazon does. Make some intelligent decisions based on what people have previously bought and offer them something they're highly likely to buy.

    Sending a generic catalouge, your "highly likely to buy" follow up product tends to get lost in the clutter...

    Someone buys a bicycle, they might be interested in a lawnmower, a computer, or a jet aircraft. but probably not..

    However, they are more likely to be interested in a helmet, a lycra suit, or a lighting kit.

    What's more, if you explain why they need the helmet, the lycra suit, or the lighting kit, they're even more likely to buy...

    Playing off what Animal said above, if you don't have those related things for sale find people that do and partner with them. Get a group of people cross promoting each other's stuff and it could be more sales for everyone. They would be promoting your stuff to their customers too. Just a thought.

    A business card is always valuable, but I would say that, if your business involves "face to face" sales;
    "Never give it to them , until the very end of your full presentation...", after rebuts and everything else...

    Otherwise, it can become an excuse for your prospect to have an easy out, saying; "Well, I have your card, let me think about it and call you back".

    There is usually no "Be Back Bus". In the interim they are usually sold, soon after , by a more aggressive person.

    After all, they wouldn't even have met with you , if they weren't in the market. Giving a business card too soon can kill their sense of urgency, and give them a reason not to "act now".

    Thats my only advice, other than "Yes", you should have one.

    My opinion is it doesn't matter if it increases your sales or not (because it most likely will). Business cards are so cheap and with a physical product you might as well send one, it doesn't increase shipping costs.


    Let's say your product costs $25 (which is a low cost product). A thousand business cards cost about $25 (and that's for a 2 sided, full color, glossy card). You don't think out of a thousand business cards that you send or distribute that at least one person will buy?


    Remember your business card doesn't have to be exclusively for people that buy from you, it could also be handed out to just about anyone whether they ask what you do or want your phone number.

    Hi Yelena! 100% yes! Send your business card along with your product. Not all people throw it away. The "thank you" note mentioned here only adds to positive response to you and your product and most perspective future coming back to you... what came across my mind right now is also adding a kind of note that would stand out, be unique, would complete your product and probably might become your "signature card", .... - could be a part of thank you note, just my thoughts coming across my mind right now...
