Google doesn't give results from my blog

Guys; I don't know where else to put this.

I have a Wordpress blog website...Claudesblog.com. My problem is that Google doesn't list any content from the website when I do a Google search. Even when I use a quote from the website. It's like the site doesn't exist.

Does anyone know why?

Claude, if you do a Google search with this format "site:claudesblog.com" you'll see that 44 pages are indexed. So, those pages are in Google. They may not be ranking for anything but they are there.

I'm not sure besides those 44 how many others you may have that are not indexed, though.

    Hi Claude,

Did your site ever show up?

Have your pinged your website using a tool like Pingler?

Best to use it for each post you've made.

I've pinged most of my posts, and create at least a few links to the post. I've tested several old titles of articles and they don't show up, even though they are exact matches.

      weird.

Looks like a process of elimination is going to be needed
        to track down the cause.

Here's the first step, see if you've been penalized by Google.

Here's a guide on how to do it...

    At a guess, duplicate content.

When I search on something specific like "Most sales trainers and sales authors talk about prospecting, presenting, and closing sales." I get:

Your book at no 1, warrior forum post at no 3 and your blog post (on Claudesblog) down at no 5.

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?ei=l...iz.Fm17F8VHWB4

Stupid Google thinks Claudesblog is just not as important as amazon or warrior forum :-)

Google values video. Might help to blog Youtube videos.

If you want to "guarantee" that the right people see your blog posts, create a Facebook Page and post there. Then boost a post (Facebook ad) every once in a while.

    Hi Claude,

Perchance have you installed a sitemap and submitted it to Webmaster tools?

I'm only an amateur but I couldn't find your sitemap.

    Have you got one?

Have you got a robots.txt set up.

Maybe take a look at Yoast.

    Best regards,

      I'm googling the titles of several of my articles. For example;
The Single Best Answer To Nearly Every Sales Objection

And the article (an exact match) isn't showing up on the first page of a Google search. Even more complex titles aren't showing up.

My thought is that somehow my pages aren't showing up in results.

Im not going to say I ran an absolute client level check on your site.. but I ran a low end run over type of inspection... The pages are there, but rank past page 20.

When content such as this: https://neilpatel.com/blog/ecommerce...product-pages/ ranks on page 15 for Your title term that kind of suggests the level of competition for this particular sector of sales IE the objection is a bit rough.

The environment of google has changed - exact match isn't always a given. by placing " The Single Best Answer To Nearly Every Sales Objection " in, and clicking search to see there is " about 15,600,000 results " THAT is very telling to an SEO guy like myself.

I think the short answer to this is, you are not ranking because your content is not deemed relevant to the search... < Insert Claudes WTF?!?!?! here > probably no social signals.. probably no backlinks.. probably nothing helping at all - and then ALL of the competition on top of it.

I noticed by adding "Wooster Oh" didn't even help any and this is where the SEO guy that I am looks at the Local SEO guy that is you and says < WTF Claude?!?! > hahaha

You simply need to try for longer tail keywords LOL

        Hope that Helps somehow?

          It does help indeed.

By the way, I may be the least knowledgeable internet marketing guy...that sold internet marketing services. Everything done online was done by employees.

I did notice that by including my name, the titles would rank pretty highly.

You are right about quality backlinks and social signals. I know how to do that at least.

          Thanks again.

That's probably the last post. I'll check about private view. Thanks.

Just did. I think I get it now. My blog is just not ranking high enough for these searches to pull my post up first.

I do notice that a way for a post I write to show up is to use it as a new topic on this forum. Posts on WF show up really well on Google.

Not having a site map probably hurts too.

Thanks guys. I think mystery is solved.

  • Hellor Claude,

I'm not an SEO person by any means. However, do yourself a favor and download Google's Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines. This is a 164 page pdf file straight from Google on how they rate and rank website pages.

Here is the > link <

Since I've read it, I've had more success with my client's websites, articles, and blog posts ranking than I've had in the past. But as I said, I'm not an SEO person, nor play one on TV.

And as always, your mileage may vary.

    Hey Claude,

Appsumo is running a deal on webtexttools at the moment.

It can drag in your content and point out the necessary changes if that is what you would like to do.

It tracks your articles and you can generate reports on what other articles are beating your ones for you to investigate.

Their sales page only tells you part of the equation but they just ran a webinar (you can probably get the replay) that shows some really useful info if ranking articles is something you are trying to do.

It is handy because you can import old articles and if you use MS Word they have an add-on that sits there whilst you edit.

There is a stacking deal on at the moment that includes the content ranking component.

Check it out if it interests you.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

    Hi Claude,

First and foremost, trying to figure search engines is like trying to figure out a wife. Just when you think you got it figured out something changes and we are back to the drawing board (smile). BTW, nice site, first time I have seen it.

Took a look at your site.

    1. Used two different online search engines: Google cached and DuckDuckGo uncached.
    2. Other online tools: wpthemedetector.com discovers theme and plugins and wppluginchecker.earthpeople.se discovers plugins.
    3. Viewed the site homepage source code.

The site only lacks one Google Application and some minor wordpress plugins to help the search engines index the articles:

    Google Application: Google Search Console
Google Search Console (previously Google Webmaster Tools) is a no-charge web service by Google for webmasters. It allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites. Reports on how search engines interact with your site,
    https://search.google.com/search-console/about

    Google XML Sitemap (plugin)
A sitemap is a file where you provide information about the pages, videos, and other files on your site, and the relationships between them. Search engines like Google read this file to more intelligently crawl your site. Note: Google XML Sitemaps by Arne Brachhold is a well known and extremely popular plugin.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

    Broken Link Checker (plugin)
This plugin will monitor your blog looking for broken links and missing images. Note: It is a good idea to run the plugin after you create an article with any links and also good idea if you install an additional plugin after the install of Broken Link Checker as some plugins may disable/change a link. The plugin can be deactivated when not in use.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/

    Side notes:
    Permalink Structure
The site's permalink structure is fixed to "Post Name." For brand and authority purposes I suggest change it to "Articles by Claude Whitacre" and Tag "Claude Whitacre." That takes some special handling so as not to lose any backlinks, create broken links and it would be mandatory to study if you do it yourself or outsource to a trusted SEO specialist.
A Simple Guide to Changing Your Permalinks Without Breaking Your WordPress Website August 9, 2018
    https://www.wpexplorer.com/change-permalinks-wordpress/

    Suggested Plugins, but not mandatory
Sucuri Security - Auditing, Malware Scanner and Security Hardening.
Sucuri Inc. is a globally recognized authority in all matters related to website security, with specialization in WordPress Security.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/sucuri-scanner/

    Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
This Google Analytics for WordPress plugin enables you to track your site using the latest Google Analytics tracking code and allows you to view key Google Analytics stats in your WordPress install. Side note: Nice resource to quickly glance some marketing info though it can be configured for very detailed info inside your wordpress dashboard.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/google...hboard-for-wp/

    Suggested Site Changes:
    SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).i.e. https
Site security is becoming more important to visitors, ad networks and search engines.
See your webhost for the security certificate.

    Something to think about:
Always use the same URL structure especially if you add a security certificate, e.g. https:// vs https://www
Most webhosts and webmasters suggest https://www (with the www).

    WordPress address URL:
The WordPress address URL must be consistent with any links that you create, e.g. https:// vs https://www
Its details like this that are often overlooked and extremely important to the search engines.

    Almost forgot:
A contact page. It goes a long way to establish an authority site. Though I consider your site as an authority site the search engines may not. The best way, in your webhost cPanel you can create a site email address and forward the emails to a online email account such as Google Mail.
