Ranking Local Videos to Generate Leads

Hi Guys,

I recently watch a webinar about getting local videos ranked on page 1 of Google to generate traffic/leads for a local business.

I'm very sceptical about this because when I'm searching for a personally I never click on any video listings to find service providers.

So I really want to know, is it just me? I'm I missing a fantasic opportunity to generate more leads for my local businesses?

Youtube videos show up very well in local searches. As long as the video title includes the search words and the city and state. mention the business name and city, state in the description too.

In my own local business, I have several websites, and lots of videos. The videos bring in the most customers by far, even more than my local listings in local online directories.

Video thumbnails catch the eye of the online shopper. They stand out. And they are easy to get ranked.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

Thanks for sharing your insights on local lead gen videos.
Whats your preferred way to produce these videos ? Do you shoot em in the bizowners real location with people acting in front of the camera or do you use some software/graphics/templates ? Just wonder which style will usually convert better.. Thanks

When they were out of my travel area, I'd create videos using animation. But if at all possible, I would tape them in their business. You want the business owner talking about what they sell. If it's product, have them answer common shopper questions...and have them review what they sell. If it's a service, just have them answer common questions.

You need to write the list of questions before you start filming.

Sometimes, I'll sell the service, and then start taping right then, to save travel. It's important for the owner to say their location and phone number in each video. A few minutes each is fine. One video gets one question answered.

I may shoot between 15 and 25 short videos at once.

The important thing is when you upload them to Youtube, you give them titles that contain search words and the city (or city and state).

        For example;

"Back Aches?. Akron Ohio Mattress Expert Gives Mattress Review For Back Ache Sufferers"

It's OK to have a keyword in there twice, as long as the sentence makes sense.

The word "Review" will help. Just make it a real review and not just a pitch.

If the owner is camera shy, any employee can do it.

You aren't creating art, so several takes aren't necessary. Even bloopers are fun. The more you can post, the better. Two videos on every specific subject are helpful, as Google likes no more than 2 videos per search page, I've found.

Don't give the business owner access to the Youtube account. They may change things that destroy the effort. In a moment of stupidity, I had a client delete 25 videos I created in his account...and then asked me to re-upload them. The exception is if you are not charging a monthly fee, just and upfront fee for the work. Then it doesn't matter who has access.

Make sure at the end of every video, to link to another of their videos. It will help you in the rankings. And post the videos on any website you build for them, or any website they already have. It helps views.

Added later; Another reason to have the business owner in the videos is that it starts a "relationship" with the buyer. It builds trust and confidence in the business owner. And it makes him/her a minor celebrity.

You'll get a far better result if you use real people that really work in that business.

          Hi Claude

Could you recommend any courses or resources that will show the most effective way to do this? And or could you recommend good software to use.

          Many thanks

No software needed. There are plenty of videos on Youtube that explain everything. Just search (on Youtube) "Youtube marketing" and start watching.

I created a course, but it's probably 20% out of date. And there is nothing in any course that you can't find easily on Youtube...for free.

It depends on the niche & product/service. Some niches you won't generate much or anything at all.

In some niches & location s ranking videos on page 1 are difficult due to the current competition that exists.

if Youtube videos exist (with the right key words in the title), Google likes putting 2 videos on each page of search results. If nobody else locally has a keyword match in the title of the videos, and you do, your videos show up.

It's the one way to almost guarantee a page one search result for a local client.

Well you are losing on a good potential traffic and lead generation here.
Use Youtube mostly with the reviews as they are important aspect that any customer considers before going for the service.

Yes, I think you are missing important leads. Videos are currently doing better than content in bringing customers. Try it and let's share the results.

Yes, it greatly depends on the niche. There's some local niches where it's virtually impossible for videos to rank for local searches.

There's other factors such as specific wants/needs in a niche. For example, if someone is searching for a plumber to install a new bath tub, they may want to watch a local video.

However, if someone wants a plumber because their sewer line just burst, they aren't looking for a video, they want a phone number and a message that says something like "Need help right now? Fast, dependable 24 hour service call us at _______ ." These folks don't have time for a video and there's a number of niches where this applies (dentists, vets, etc).
