Ranking Local Videos to Generate Leads

When they were out of my travel area, I'd create videos using animation. But if at all possible, I would tape them in their business. You want the business owner talking about what they sell. If it's product, have them answer common shopper questions...and have them review what they sell. If it's a service, just have them answer common questions.

You need to write the list of questions before you start filming.

Sometimes, I'll sell the service, and then start taping right then, to save travel. It's important for the owner to say their location and phone number in each video. A few minutes each is fine. One video gets one question answered.

I may shoot between 15 and 25 short videos at once.

The important thing is when you upload them to Youtube, you give them titles that contain search words and the city (or city and state).

For example;

"Back Aches?. Akron Ohio Mattress Expert Gives Mattress Review For Back Ache Sufferers"

It's OK to have a keyword in there twice, as long as the sentence makes sense.

The word "Review" will help. Just make it a real review and not just a pitch.

If the owner is camera shy, any employee can do it.

You aren't creating art, so several takes aren't necessary. Even bloopers are fun. The more you can post, the better. Two videos on every specific subject are helpful, as Google likes no more than 2 videos per search page, I've found.

Don't give the business owner access to the Youtube account. They may change things that destroy the effort. In a moment of stupidity, I had a client delete 25 videos I created in his account...and then asked me to re-upload them. The exception is if you are not charging a monthly fee, just and upfront fee for the work. Then it doesn't matter who has access.

Make sure at the end of every video, to link to another of their videos. It will help you in the rankings. And post the videos on any website you build for them, or any website they already have. It helps views.

Added later; Another reason to have the business owner in the videos is that it starts a "relationship" with the buyer. It builds trust and confidence in the business owner. And it makes him/her a minor celebrity.

You'll get a far better result if you use real people that really work in that business.
