What promotional products work for your business?

Hi,

We are a promotional products distributor and are looking to develop our product range. There are obviously some factors that come into place when we are looking to add new products.

Many companies are moving further into the digital age and we are looking to develop our catalog.

Please let me know your suggestions

Thanks

We have a range of over 2,000 standard items. There are a number of items that we sell lots of, promotional mugs, printed tote bags, and branded pens.

But what we are really looking for, is products that others are recommending. We don't know all of our customers target audience, so getting an insight is really helpful.

From 2004-2016 one of my side gigs was selling promotional products. In the beginning I was a Kaeser & Blair PP distributor, but eventually went on to sell as an independent distributor and became an ASI member.

Here's what I can pass along from those 12 years.

The object to selling pp is not how many you offer, but how your client(s) can strategically us them to generate leads or sales.

So, instead of focusing on how many products you offer, show your clients how to create pp campaigns that eagerly bring customers through their doors.

Here's one I created using pp pens and a direct response technique.

If you look at most pp pens, they are imprinted with the company name, their slogan/address, and a phone number. If there's room maybe their company logo too.

For me, just looking at that standard layout, I honestly couldn't figure out how someone would be compelled to do business with a company all because the business had their name, address, and phone number on a pen.

So, what I did was approach companies with this direct response idea. Instead of having the standard imprinted content, use the image of a redeemable coupon with "X" amount of dollars off a purchase when the customer brought the pen into the store.

        Get $10 OFF Your Purchase
When You Bring Us This Pen
        (Company Name and Address)

This idea gave my clients a way to physically track leads and sales, based on how many pens they collected. I also used other variations.

Then I had the clients take it a step further. When their customer redeemed their pen, they were given a new pen with a different coupon offering.

That generated additional sales on a second, third, or fourth trip back, plus word got around that this company gives away pens that can be redeemed for future purchases.

Now if you were a first-time customer to the store or business, the cashier made sure to give the customer a pen and pointed out the coupon. And quite often my clients did see those new customers again.

So, my recommendation for you and your company is focus on providing pp ideas that generate leads and sales.

If it's of any interest to you, I wrote a home study course years ago about how to give away a white pp mug and get local businesses eagerly paying to help you do this.

Not what you asked, but I think it will help you a lot: https://www.asicentral.com/Downloads...study-2013.pdf

They are studies by the Advertising Specialty Institute.

https://www.ppai.org/media/2099/2017...dy-booklet.pdf This one's by Promotional Products Association International.

They are biased in favor of promotional products, but give you a relative effectiveness of various products. By effectiveness, I mean, number of impressions.

As someone else has already said, a lot of it has to do with how you use them/ what you write on them.

    Healthcare products.

    Especially weight loss.

But know these, men and women have very different philosophies and objectives when it comes to losing weight.

For men, they just want to lose weight so that they can eat what they want or better still, lose weight without compromising what they like to eat.

For women, it may be a different case. Especially after their pregnancy or at some point when they want to lose weight.

But i could be wrong here.

In my country Singapore, weight loss and slimming products are very popular in healthcare as much as digital investments and e-learning programs.
