Why Not Use Off Line Adds?

Hi guys, you might think this is crazy, but I've had quite a bit of luck using off line ads from newspaper classifieds in specific states, say for example Chicago. This was in response to the 'don't use solo ads article' that was posted on here a while back.

My question is where can I find the best deal for blasting news paper ads?

Has anyone else tried this?

Any insights here?

  • In the US there are state wide classified advertising networks that can put a classified ad in every free weekly newspaper in a state. lots of great deals, and saves you time.

    Here you are...

    In the past, I
I've run classified ads in these free weekly papers, and have had really good results. But it depends on the offer, the ad you write, and the audience. For example, I ran ds all across Ohio, and found that one county gave me 90% of my results. So I stopped running these ads everywhere in Ohio, and ran them in just one county, which meant just one paper. This was several years ago. No idea how this might work today.

  • I was also intrigued by this and it looks like nationwideadvertising is the best way to go here, seems pretty reasonable also.
  • I have been using nationwideadvertising.com for more than 20 years with great results from just a few on-going 20-word ads.

Currently, you can try it out inexpensively with their SPECIAL DEAL - 1 million circulation in 20 cities for only $180 per week. I would recommend multiple insertions (at least 3-4 weeks) initially for testing.

Note: Always include a phone number and website in your ads. This dramatically raises conversion rates. Most newspapers are online in addition to print.

    • I'm not sure how well this would work now, but in my 20s and 30s, I would place classified ads in newspapers offering to buy whatever I thought I could sell fast. Then I'd run an ad in the same newspaper...on the same day...selling the thing I bought.. I made a small fortune over the years, with that one idea alone.

And as a teenager, I used to run ads selling several mail order items directly through classified ads. I always made money, no idea why.
