Should an agency website have the keyword 'Agency' in it?

Is it advisable to have a domain name which has the keyword 'Agency' in it ... for an agency if it really doesn't matter?
Eg., XyzAdAgency vs RankOptimizers

I see the first example let's any one know exactly what it is. And the later looks to be more brandable.

TIA

It's always best to have "What you do" in the name...with one exception...if it's possible that eventually you'll change what you do, or add different services that are not under the name umbrella.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

I was just about to say this. Although sometimes "agency" or whatever you're advertising can be easier to others.

Not necessarry if your domain name consists your actual product name/keyword etc. However, it is worth noting that a high search volume keyword domain relevant to your market or line can be a significant advantage.

Have you seen the marketing strategy of FMCG companies? They own competing brands of the same product. Customers have multiple choices, but the same company benefits.

Here's my opinion based on real-life experience & results.

You shouldn't choose one over the other. Branding and SEO domains are equally important. I would get both and maintain two sites. The brand being the primary one and the second for SEO benefit. Develop both sites. For Google My Business, use the brand name website. Make sure to keep the two sites separate from each other. Do not have any common footprint.

One thing to keep in mind is "mental opt out".

It occurs when a person has developed a negative connotation in his mind about a given product or service.

For example, if a prospect has had a bad experience with one or more agencies, he's more likely to ignore any company that has the word agency in it.

The word "coaching" is quickly reaching that point. And I'm sure the word "agency" will be there soon.
