Starbucks reopens some stores in US

The famous coffee chain is gradually opening 30 US stores which were closed during the pandemic. These 30 offer order pickup instead of seating, and by June they're looking to open 90% of company-owned stores.

And reopening their stores means they're ramping up marketing, part of which is reaching out to 19.4 million active members of its Starbucks Rewards programme for the US market. These members receive direct digital messages, usually through app notifications.

If you're coffee-deprived during the lockdown, perhaps a Starbucks might be near your place, provided you buy a freshly-pressed coffee to go.

Let's see how businesses catch up after temporarily closing down.

I don't drink a ton of coffee anymore, but I could go for a White Chocolate Mocha right about now

30 stores? Don't they have like 3 million stores? Every Starbucks near me has been open this entire year serving through the drive through windows. Essential business and everything.

  • This would have been good news if I wasn't forced to learn how to make my own coffee at home. I even enjoy the process. Now I know how to make good coffee, not really missing Starbucks that much. I'll buy beans from them, maybe, if I want to try something new.

Indeed. It's much cheaper to make coffee at home. I've been simply using grounds and a press. I prefer to taste the coffee, rather than sugar, milk and whatever else goes in those drinks.

That being said, I do not believe (hardly) anyone is buying plain black coffee at Starbucks.

Ahh yes, freshly-pressed coffee. That jumpstarts my day.

I've cut WAY back on my coffee consumption during quarantine, mostly due to minor stomach issues. I've cut back from 5-6 cups a day to just 1 in the morning. It's no wonder that my sleep has improved enormously.

I'm buying coffee from a store in Manila - they're cheaper, plus locally sourced.

I hope this pandemic is ending soon, but before that it has to take some pains.

Due to the current pandemic I will no longer be shaking hands or giving hugs. You may wave, bow to me or give me the finger...your choice.

I don't go to a Starbucks anymore. Coffee is overpriced, when a cup from McDonalds is cheaper but tastes better.

That used to be my main office locally whenever traveling across the county for meeting clients and prospects. I don't even drink their coffee.
