Newly exposed to the world of direct mail marketing for charities
Hi, I realize the focus of this site is internet marketing, but but the world of charity marketing via postal mail has entered my life. My parents apparently sent money to a few charities that advertise on the tv news, and their names were shared around, and now a few years later I'm dealing with literally 50 pounds of postal mail. These letters are pure marketing, and as someone who works in marketing all I can see the mistakes they make in their targeting and language. I think I could do better but direct mail and charities are not a business I know intimately. Some marketing principles are universal, but I'd like to find a gorilla marketing guide for this specific segment.
