High Ticket Prospecting Method That Works (Step by Step)

Hey,

A little while ago I sat down to try this "new" prospecting method. Once I implemented it, I had two clients paying me $5000 each per month for a service I was offering.

Here's what I did.

The "new" prospecting method is... cold callnig.

I know. You've heard about it. Nothing new, right? But have you tried it and made it work for yourself?

(I do a LOT of prospecting in my business. Most of it hands off. Prospecting is definitely not the easiest, but it WORKS.)

Cold calling is an incredible and extremely inexpensive way to prospect easily. You only need two things, and even those you only need if you want to speed things up a bit.

So here's the breakdown.

1. Buy a calling list.

I use sales data pro. They have very accurate B2B lists with good, real phone numbers. Great company.

2. Get a dialer.

I use Xencall. Again, a fantastic service, easy to use and will work on any operating system.

3. Load up your list into your Xencall.

This is a little involved because you have to have the data properly formatted but it's not hard, and Xencall customer support is fantastic. Give them a ring if you get in trouble.

4. Get a book to read while you cold call.

Cold calling is a numbers game and if you just sit there waiting for that beep in your headset you'll get really bored really quickly. Grab a book, or a game on your phone that you can read while you do calls.

Cold calling is a bit repetitive because you same then same thing over and over and a little distraction goes a long way.

Reason for cold calling.

The reason for cold calling is to talk to people that might be interested to sit down with you on zoom for about 45 minutes so that you can sell them. In my business we use cold calling as a strictly appointment setting process.

If you do this for long enough you WILL get clients (assuming you know a little bit about how to sell, but that's a different post for another day...)

Hope this helps.

  • Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for sharing your process.

I'm a salesman of 30+ years but I'm always hungry to learn from anybody - we never master sales, we only build our toolset, reinforce our mindset and continually perfect our skillset, which helps us create more assets!

So I'm most interested in your cold call script - what did you say to them?

I'd love to see the full script, beginning to end - any objections to sharing that Sebastian?

    Thank you in advance,

    Paul

  • I was kind of hoping we would get the script that sells a $5,000 service. Pretty please?

    • That makes three of us,

Maybe we can get Sebastian to agree with something they do on social media... "If 10 people comment, I will share my script"
    • You know you gotta pay for information like that...

Gotta be worth at least $7...
      • [ 3 ] Thanks

  • I am more interested in the service than the script.

@Sebastian, you can hire somebody to make those cold calls.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • While I appreciate that you told us a list source and a dialing source...

The important information is what you say to a cold list that gets them to buy a $5,000 a month service.

If you say "Step by step method", and leave out the one important step.....I don't see how that's much use. Please give us the script or a link to where we can get/buy it.

    • I agree. I am also curious about the retention rate.
How many months do these prospects stay signed up?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Sabastian; I want to apologize.

My last two posts assumed you sold your service on the cold call. I re-read your post, and saw that this was an appointment setting call.

Much easier. But the script to get the appointment would help some readers.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Hey, sorry, I dont use a script. I have a general frame follow for the call, but not a script.

For the cold call, I like to start off by saying that my call is a cold call and asking them if they'd like to hang up or let me talk for 30 seconds.

It disarms them a bit. I borrowed it from Ben Dennehy. Then try to identify the problem, etc. The usual.

    • Thanks for the Dennehy reference. I watched several of his videos and see his approach is essentially the Sandler System approach.

      Good workable sales training.

    • Just wanted to barge in and say - that is a killer (honest) and great way to start the call.

And very, very rare will the prospects ever hang up.

      Steve

P.S. Knowing that Dennehy openly says none of his stuff is "new" - I never realised it originated from Sandler - thanks Claude for pointing it out.

(In the wonderful world of copywriting it's usually critical - to get the "sources" bang on - I'm busy scribbling some research on sales training - with this, it might not be life or death to get all the sources exact but it helps)

  • This is pretty insightful actually. Do you recommend any other sites for particular niches?
  • Claude...

Yes! - I've watched all of Benjamins vids on the YT - brilliant stuff.

And... (thanks to your knowledge re the Sandler connection) - started watching their vids - and am about to order some of their epics.

Btw - watch this Sandler vid on Prospecting - you'll thoroughly enjoy it - or I'll refund your time.

( blimey, I think I might have invented a new guarantee...)

    • Steve; Seen it, as I've seen just about all their videos over the last week or so.

May I make a suggestion? The Sandler courses can all be bought much cheaper on E-bay. Some are a few years old, but it's the same stuff. And they are new.

I see on Amazon that I've ordered both a few years ago. That means they are hiding in my library just waiting to be opened. Thanks.

What's odd to me is that I'm at the end of my selling career. I'll be retired in less than a year. And only writing and selling my sales course after that.

But here I am, like an eager kid, I can't wait to gobble up anything that could make me 1% better. Weird.

  • Not being a maths aficionado...

But there might an algorithm that says - be 1% better.

Add this to all your knowledge to date.

And you'll earn 57.9% more or be able to work 59.7% less.

    Or both.

On a more practical and maybe realistic side -

When you discover just one absolute gem of a technique (either by good chance - or after buying a library of books and courses - bit like panning for gold).

It really can supercharge your income, save you shedfulls of time - all with so much less grief and hassle.

And you can add all the "gems" to your Sales Training Course - imagine how impressive that'll be.

  • Guys;

    Damnit, damnit, damnit.

I just finished reading Prospect the Sandler Way: A 30-Day Program for Mastering Stress-Free Lead Development.

Sure, I watched the video, but I like reading books. It's only a couple of dollars for a used copy on Amazon.

Soooooo.....I already knew some of it. And already was doing some of it. But the authors (who are not Sandler) gave such a brilliant take on how to cold call...I'm going to have to make a few cold calls, so I can steal what I learned and include it in my own materials.

This is truly a game changer if you want to cold call business owners.

I wish I had this 40 years ago. But to be honest, I don't think I would have understood what I was learning, and how insightful it is...until I went through decades of selling.

  • This sounds like too much work. I prefer to run paid ads to my target market or position yourself on Google using SEO where people are searching for your service.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I'd estimate I've made about 20,000 cold calls over my entire career. Yeah, it works...
