What verticals are a good fit for content marketing

I'd like to add content marketing as a service to my web design agency.

I always pitch SEO and google ads to my clients which they usually understand why they need those services pretty quickly.

I've been pitching content marketing as a service lately but it's not as clear to average businesses why they need it.

In your experience is there a type of business that just gets how beneficial content marketing is?

Interesting interesting topic... As a kind of one stop agency, I promote content creation on a daily basis.

Start with this, look up "Pillar Content" Your not creating a one single piece of content, you are creating 10, and 20, and 30 pieces of content. and with this you are creating this interlinking between any number of social posts and the core content. I would suggest this is an OPTIMAL SEO strategy right?

Another aspect of this is consistent content creation is a positive signal regardless of platform. Someone that creates consistent videos week in week out gets an amount of boost on Youtube. The same is true with Instagram, with TicTok, with Google, with facebook etc etc etc. Again this directly relates to SEO.

Getting someone to understand that a consistent flow of content is beneficial is for the most part easy... and getting them to agree that they simply would not have the time to create this content is again easy.

When you make this type of approach, try this. hand them a sample article. THEN hand them another sheet that has Tweets, already done for them, and Facebook posts already done for them, a minor rewrite for Linkedin content, a couple of instagram images already done for them. Its then REAL easy to explain that they are not getting an "Article", they are getting say 10 pieces of content.

You can take this concept a step further and sit down once a month and sit with the owner, or an employee or a customer and video record a Q&A. You can then post the video. You can then transcribe the video and have text content, you then might be able to pull a portion for tictok content, and then you can break out many bits and pieces for Insta, and Linkedin and facebook and twitter.

At this point all you are selling is the time savings, The product, and its value.

    Hope that Helps!

When the concept being sold is not instantly understandable or easily explained, content marketing is a good fit.

When you want the advertising to not look like an in-your-face-buy-my-stuff-now sales pitch, content marketing works well.

Do you need more space & time to get the idea and benefits across to your potential customer? Would it be helpful to have the material look more like an editorial or educational piece than a sales letter? Then it's time to use a content marketing approach.

Transactional sales ("I have this jug of milk for sale") don't require much explanation. Everyone already understands what the thing being sold is, and why you would want it.

But complex sales ("I have this CRM for sale") need more depth. The prospective buyer needs to be educated about its factors so they understand why they would need it, or why this solution is better than others for their situation.

Look into the stages of buyer awareness. Think about how content marketing could help you intercept them at various stages, and move them along to the next.
