Showing a different number on Tel links/CTCs

One of my coworkers ran into an issue with a client who specifically wants their number shown on all tel links and CTC buttons. They've had their office number for decades and consider it an important part of their personal branding.

We had been using DNI to swap out numbers for tracking numbers until they brought up this issue. Not sure what best practices would be for this but coworker wanted to make the href in the tel links connect to the tracking # while showing the office number to visitors. But they weren't sure if this was deceptive or not. TBH I leaning towards probably not considered a deceptive practice. But I can't find any specific references to how best to handle this situation.

Any suggestions or answers for how we could best handle their call tracking while still showing their office #?

    If your client knows and agrees, there's nothing deceptive going on.


    Or are you talking from the prospect's point of view?


    If the number you're sending them to is answered by the company or someone authorized for the company to speak on behalf of the company, there's no issue.
