Ideas for marketing for Tree Service and a Fence Company

Hi. I have been reading these forums for years and this has been my favorite subforum. I am a web designer that does some marketing for a few clients. I have two clients that I am managing Google ads for that are not performing well. One of the companies is a tree service and the other company is a fence builder. I have done some searches on the forum to get some ideas for these kinds of businesses but was not able to find anything that looked very appealing.

I am thinking of trying something like HomeAdvisor or Nextdoor or maybe even print ads for the two companies.

Any ideas or even just point in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks!

Family members who moved into their new home last week just contracted for a 6 ft fence for $7k+. Their realtor gave them two names to get quotes from and recommended those companies as 'excellent service/products'.

The new subdivision they bought into allows ONLY vinyl fencing....and the fence company they chose offered a 10% discount on fencing for THAT particular subdivision - offering only fencing that meets the standards for the S/D.

In my experience - companies that sell fencing need to be advertising in new subdivisions or through realty companies (think 'referral fees') or remodeling companies. Some new subdivisions do not allow any above ground fencing...while most will limit the type of fence that can be used. Whether buying new property or a resale home (replacing old fence), those are target audiences for fence sellers. In rural areas, fence companies may also add farm fencing such as chicken coop enclosures, round pens, riding ring fencing, etc. and those can increase the customer base.

Tree service ads in the same areas could be effective - but ALSO in areas that have had weather damage. For example, in the year after a hurricane, I hired a tree service several times to take down pines on my land that that withstood the storm but had roots weakened so the trees became dangerous.

What 'extra services' could these companies advertise/offer? In the spring in areas with hard winters...a 'seasonal' 'tree pruning' service might be a way to get the name out there and pick up some new business. Offering a 'free tree safety inspection' to areas after a natural disaster or very harsh winter might be a good ad idea.

Fencing and tree service companies could provide coupons or flyers to realtors to include in a closing package....ask to place flyers or coupons in model homes of new subdivisions...utilize local ad pack mailouts....

Thank you very much for those ideas! I like the idea of getting the companies to network with realtors.

Do realtors usually have coupons or flyers like that in closing packages? Wondering how hard it would be to get them to include them or if we need to offer some kind of incentive for referrals though I'm not sure what that would be. You mentioned "referral fees" what do you mean by that?

      Thanks again!

Some Realtors do. I would also add home inspectors and mortgage originators here and insurance people.

Some do have flyers and such.

You can attend (sponsor is even better) their events. (As a sponsor, you'd get introduced and given time to talk about yourself.)

Of the above, Realtor and mortgage originators would be my top ones to go to. They have a long (3 weeks or longer) period they have to interact with their client and, if they recommend you to one of their clients, you're pretty much sure to get hired.

At the very least, the Realtors know if home has fence or troubled trees/landscaping. Every single time. Mortgage brokers know on some of the deals. (Purchase with renovation loans).

What you could do is arrange for a postcard mailing to go to a particular neighborhood (or a Realtor's choosing; in the USA, you'd do EDDM (Postal Service that hits every house on a carrier route... so it's cheap to deliver, comparatively speaking). On one side, you and the mortgage broker and on the other side the Realtor.

(Or vice versa). Or you have you and the mortgage people on one side and a Realtor and landscaping company on the other side.

You can pay for all the costs. You can charge one or two or all three of the others part of the costs.

Yes, that means you have to convince them to go with your idea and, maybe, pay for it... Look on this forum for Bob Ross and his 9x12 postcard mailer ideas: https://www.warriorforum.com/offline...onth-hero.html.
