How I'm Building A List of Offline Clients and Making Some Money Too

I looked around my environment and discovered that most of my friends and neighbors are still using what I call "Windows-XP PC". I also discovered that their greatest annoying challenge is that their PCs often "hang" and moves at a very slow rate or very low speed.

So, I sat down and learned how to troubleshoot a PC that uses Windows XP in order to solve the problems of "hanging" and very low speed.

What next? I started visiting my friends and neighbors to tell them that I can make their PC work better and faster. The first thing they always asked me is, "How much will it cost?"

To their greatest surprise, I told them that I will charge them absolutely nothing.

To my greatest surprise, the first person allowed me to do it. I did it and the PC started working finer than it was. He was excited and he gave me some money.

He spread the news and people started coming to my house for me to fix their own PCs.

I have been doing it till date FREE of charge but they have been giving me some money out of excitement.

Right now, I have a list of about 40 offline clients that I can sell something else to because I have been able to build a solid reputation/credibility by just solving their problem free of charge.

Also, I have been making some money without asking for it though soonest I will start charging for it.

I hope this helps someone looking for a way to build a list.

OK, so you're saying successful offline advertising also consists of giving future clients something for FREE like you would with a regular lead capture page. I did not know that this tactic can work offline and I'm happy you shared this story because I don't have a lot of offline clientele and it's good to know word of mouth advertising still works.

I did the same when i was 17 years old..

but I did to business... that way I can landing up with big contract
    which I did...

now, you need test your list:

    • Are they just responsive when you do this stuff for FREE
    • When you start to charge them $20, $50, $100/hr see how many goes off the list
    • than divide them up into smaller list....
    • marketing different type of service and item to them
    well done..

Yes, you have a very good point there. I will start testing the list but I have already started making money from the list considering the fact that they give me some money after they have seen that I did a nice job.

However, I'm still working on a new service that I will render to them, which I'm sure that they will be glad to pay for it.

    Shiloh,
    Thanks for sharing that.

I am wondering if this could be something that could be outsourced. I am thinking along the lines of charge $25 and then have a trained army of college students go out and do this. Give them the cash and you get the leads. Hmmm, not sure if that would work or not.
