Anyone have a scaleable system to get offline prospects to contact you?

I don't mean telemarketing. Nothing wrong with telemarketing but you need the right personality for it and few people do. Knocking on business doors is ok for local but not if you want to expand outside your own area.

So who has a marketing system they use personally that gets prospects to contact you and is scaleable?

Thanks,

RMX

Postcards is one the most under utilized marketing methods right now. Even better is what's called lumpy mail. Guaranteed to be opened when someone receives something in the mail that feels lumpy and you know something is in there. Direct mail competition has decreased due to the online goldrush but still an effective strategy. Start there

I used lumpy mail awhile back when selling leads. I saw no increase and my cost went way up. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, since there are still so many other factors. I have used postcards in the past but it's been a long time so I may need to reconsider it.

I tried postcards, it didn't work at all. Next thing I got the word out & started targeting prospects on Social Media. I also put up a wordpress site, hird a copywriter from the Warriors for Hire section and got a nice sales letter up with the autoresponder form. Next I am going to put a free report to get them to sign up and start a social media/video marketing campaign (been busy with the showcase client and a few prospect meetings, didn't have too much time to work on the site+sales funnel) I believe this method is far more efficient than direct mail.

I highly recommend reading the posts of petelta (Travis Petelle) he has set up a solid sales funnel and automated social media campaigns for his offline biz and got huge amounts of laser targeted traffic and signed up a load of clients.

If you are stilll hell bent on direct mail, vagabond007 posted some good videos on direct mail non the forum (if you search by user name and direct mail in thread title you should be able to find it).

      Thanks for the "plug".

The thread you are referring to is here..."Getting Attention Using Direct Mail"

And I just found out the thread was closed for some reason.

Not to stir up trouble or anything like that... But could the problem have been the copy on the postcard?

In my time, I have seen plenty of people do their online advertising badly, then blame the methodology rather than the poor copy...

I was going to say the same thing.

After looking at someones postcard/letter/etc., 9 times out of 10 I can tell exactly why it didn't work.

Fact is, postcards DO WORK if they are used correctly.

Some reasons why someone wouldn't get the results they wanted...

        • Wrong list (get this wrong and the best direct mail piece in the world is worthless)
        • Trying to sell something no one wants
        • No headline or weak headline (fails the stand alone test)
        • No offer or weak offer
        • Too cute
        • Too subtle
        • No CLEAR call to action
        • No deadline
        • No urgency
        • Trying to accomplish multiple objectives
        • Single means of response
        Just to name a few.

Get any of those wrong and yes, it won't "work".

But get them all right and it could make you rich.

 Are you saying to print your business info on t-shirts and wear them and hope people will hire you after seeing your shirt??

Think about that for a minute.

First biz owners would have to come across you.
      Then see your shirt.
      Then actually read it.
      Then say something to you.

      Bad odds.

Not too mention whatever your shirt says would have to be VERY compelling to get the person to start a conversation with you. HINT HINT...

The hint being whatever method you use better be very compelling. There is so much clutter out there that you need to cut through to get your message noticed and read.

Direct mail is, imo, the best method for what the OP asked about.

      • Scalable
      • You can send the right message to the right person
      • High ROI
You just have to know what you're doing. Which seems to be the problem for most.

Absolutely. Go and speak at Chamber of Commerce events and their equivalents. Give the right kind of presentation and you will have clients calling you. Done.

If you want scalable - direct mail is the way to go.

You write one letter selling the appointment, and mail it to as many people as you want.

If you want to guarantee a high open rate (near 100%) here's what I do....

Mail them a FedEx envelope... Who ever gets a FedEx and thinks "this is probably junk" and throws it away???? No one. It'll get opened every time.

But sending a FedEx can be a little expensive (about $6 a letter)... so here's a little trick you can use to save on the costs.

1)Go to your local FedEx store, they'll give you free 9x12 envelopes to send out. Tell them how many you want and they'll be happy to give them too you.

    2) Put your letter in the envelope and seal them up

    3) Take them to your LOCAL POST OFFICE (the post office doesn't care what the letter says on the outside - they don't care it's from FedEx) and mail it first class mail. For me that was 2 stamps. Less than a buck.

You now paid 1/6th the price of mailing a letter FedEx and will get nearly as high of an open rate/ response.

Fantastic idea! Another relatively low cost idea is to send via certified mail where someone will need to sign for it. and it has the certified scan tag attached stuck to the envelope. This works best with a yellow/manilla type of business envelope with a neatly handwritten delivery address and no name on the return address (all in blue ink).
