    TK,

That idea really rocks! It only makes sense that they would start referring you because they want to help you and know that the charity most likely does not have the budget. The next best thing?

    Referrals!

    Sweetness!

interesting idea, but... would a director of a charity have the time to take out of his day to meet a donor of $20....???

Why not? Especially if you say "Hey Sir I'm from a consulting company and would like to meet to see how I can help you receive more donations"

Re-read .... your answer is here:

"Go their foundation and talk to them (and donate them the money with a smile saying "This is just 1€, but I want to meet you and get to know your foundation first and then decide if I want to donate, since a lot of people are not 100% sincere about helping and doing charity...). Be a good guy, be sincere about getting to know them and their foundations. If you like the person and what they're doing and you seem to communicate well with each other exchange business cards and ask for a lunch or dinner to have time to talk to each other so you get to know each others businesses better and be more relaxed talking about all the stuff you want to know."

I've always said, the more people you talk to the "luckier" you'l get... AND... If you focus on helping others, the money pretty much takes care of itself.

    Good stuff...

You could also consider partnering up with a non-profit organization and giving them a cut of your profits. In return, you can have the non-profit blast their contact list, etc. I believe Willie Crawford has done this with the Knights of Columbus (or some organization like that), did an internet marketing workshop, had the non-profit fill the room using their list, and then cut them a large donation check after the event...

Thanks TK, That is a great story of how it has worked for you and a great idea for people to try out. I am sure most charities have alot of big donors that are successful business people that would be the exact type of clients most of us would want.

    Nice idea!

Thanks for the good feedback guys.

    One thing to add here:

I really hope you use it to make money!

To be honest the guy who I got this idea from paid one marketing expert over 1k who sold this tactic as a proven marketing tactic to him.

So not only can this make you cash to try for your own business, BUT you can sell this tactic to businesses as an offline marketing idea for them to increase their sales.

This works especially wonders if you sell it to businesses that offer services with big prices and profit margins (lawyers, consultants etc.)

Thanks for the comments about charities. Whilst I didn't really do anything related to your method, I accidentally got speaking to a charity at lunchtime today, via another forum.

We had a talk with regards to their current website and how we could look at re-designing it, integrating social media and helping them to enhance their online profile.

I'm really excited as it gives me a chance to give something back to people who really need it - it's a massive "feel-good" feeling isn't it?

So thanks! It wouldn't have crossed my mind had I not read your post yesterday.

Very inspiring, I wouldn't have thought of it.

I've offered free consultations and SEO services before in exchange for referrals, but I never thought about offering it to charity organizations.

Great idea, I'm implementing this and I'm already looking for organizations here in Miam.

Great way to give value to the right people, what a fantastic way to create a win/win situation.

    Thanks for sharing,

TK that is an incredible idea.

Your story reminds me of many scriptures especially this one in particular:

1 Cast your bread upon the waters,
for after many days you will find it again.
2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight,
for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
    Ecclesiastes 11:1-2 *NIV

Many people have wondered what is meant by "Cast your bread upon the water, and you will find it." Well, it is An old Hebrew Idiom meaning to give to charity and it will be returned to you ... as you have found here with what you are doing.

You will never go wrong by being interested in people. Being generous with your time, talents, and money right up front and never asking a thing from them creates an environment for reciprocal actions.

Help Thy Brothers Boat Ashore And Lo Thine Own!

Thanks for blessing us with this story.

As they always said at BNI meetings.....givers gain.

Sometimes you gain directly, sometimes it's indirectly (like in your case) and sometimes it seems totally unrelated but no less welcome.

Last year I helped a charity out by creating a web presence for a fund raising project. One month later I had the chance to speak at a convention and sold more information products in two days than I had in the past two years. It's always true....givers gain.

          lol

I though I musta been drunk or something haha

I meant take to take your wife, spouse etc. with you since many business guys will relax more and things get more personal.

As you are meeting with them not because of strict business stuff, but to get to know their charity business better taking your partner with you won't be a no-go, but make this tactic way more effective.

            Update:

Last weekend I met with my wife and kids at a charity event the CEO of a bigger and nice company in my area.

He was amazed about my sincere interest and invited me for a whiskey into his house in 2 weeks - in order to talk about how to boost his complete organisation in the next two years.

And what amazed me the most: It's NOT non-profit, but a straight up good paid project. He said his budget is around 50k per year, so I think this can turn out nice :p

Hope y'all have tried this one out so far and had simliar results,

            TK

Thanks for the tip, I was going to do something similiar but with business owners. Now that I think of it your tip is better because the reach of a charity is better then just one on one.

I do have a few questions though :
1.) During your lunch, what do you discuss exactly ?
2.) During these events, what you recommend to do and what not to do ?

I like the concept... Uses the theory of Reciprocity to your advantage.

If you do all non profits you could stand to give a lot more and have it be tax deductible.

If I may add another angle to the Community Chest type of prospecting. I mentioned some things similar on another thread here to Chrisnegro.

      GREAT idea.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

It reminds me that a few of my marketing breakthroughs came because I was helping charities and not for profit organizations.

Many of the people who give their time and expertise to local charities are leaders in the business field or HUGE centers of influence.

By becoming involved with these charities and genuinely helping them you can build some amazing contacts and credibility.

      Kindest regards,

I believe this way you can achieve 1000 times more than trying to convince people to buy from you by giving something free first (like a free website or video).

Post seems to be removed, right?... But I understand the idea is to offer some services to a charity organization. I have never done it before. Apparently you get referrals from that. And taking your wife or girlfriend with you - interesting. I think in many cases it could help indeed.

But what is the first conversation about? Apparently you give some money to the organization. And offer some free services?

Something is missing here. But everybody can think about his own way. The idea is great in any case.
