NEEDED - Google Places LOCAL Ranking Software

I'd just about give my right arm right now (because I'm left handed :p)
for a GOOD local rank checking program that did everything I need it to.

I'm paying my secretary to do manual rank checking on all my clients. I usually get them ranked on Google Places for tons of keywords - so we usually end up checking about 30 key phrases per client. Doing it manually when you have a lot of clients eats an incredible amount of time.

Since I do a pre-ranking benchmark for all new clients, then a monthly ranking report for ongoing clients and since I have a LOT of clients, it just takes WAY too much time. I send a ranking report with each invoice and am 2 weeks late invoicing because we can't get caught up on all the ranking reports.

Partly too, that's because I do a lot of it myself. If her ranking report comes back lower for that client than I think it should, then I go in and tweak their optimization, re-check and then tweak and recheck again, until I get them to the optimum level. So it's just really time consuming.

I need a program that checks back on page 2,3,4 on maps, not just the 7 pack. Because when a new client comes to me, they are usually ranked pretty far back, so I need the software to dig. Once I work with them they are usually in the 7 pack and I think there is software that will track 7 pack rank checking, but I need it to go further back.

But then it also needs to distinguish and note whether rankings are 1, 2 or 3 packs because I get clients lots of those and they are more valuable than being #3 in a 7 pack for instance.

Additionally the software needs to note if only a 1 or 2 pack shows and my client isn't on it. For instance I may get a client #3 which is GOOD. However if that keyword in that market is only showing a 2 pack, that means my client still isn't showing up on page 1.

My current manual ranking reports look like this. If there's just a # then it's in a regular 7 pack. But if there are other variations we note it. (Fake sample just to show a few variations)

Keyphrase 1 #2
Keyphrase 2 #4
Keyphrase 3 #1 (1 Pack)
Keyphrase 4 #12 (Page 2, up from #52)
Keyphrase 5 #1 (3 Pack)
Keyphrase 6 #1 (2 Pack)
Keyphrase 7 #3 (On Maps, but only 2 Pack shows on search)
Keyphrase 8 #1 (On map page - but no search page)

Does anyone know of any software that might do the trick???

I know TONS of people who would buy it and have a pretty good reach in the local SEO community, so could help you sell it if you developed a solution.

(Oh and one more thing, an optional but GREAT feature I'd like to see is if the software could check multiple cities. Even though Google local typically only gets companies ranked in the city they are located in, I get my clients ranked in surrounding cities too. (Not by using the radius feature though because I think that can hurt rankings.) So for each client I need it to check their city, plus a few surrounding cities.

        • Hi guys,

Glad to hear there is so much interest. I knew I was not the only one.

Forgot to mention there are a couple programs that supposedly work. I'll share what I've learned in case it helps a fellow warrior.

Advanced Web Ranking does local if you get the Pro Version for 199.
Here's some info. Advanced Web Ranking - Local Search

I got the demo but I can't even get it to work right. I'm pretty technical but don't have time to fight with a program to get it to work or learn it. It has to be intuitive enough for me to pick it up and just GO!

Here's an article about Using Authority Labs for "Local Pack" Rank Checking
They have a 30 day trial too I think, but I've not even bothered to try it because for me it does not look like it will work.

The prob I see with both of these are they are fully featured SEO programs that just do local as a sideline and are tied to tracking a SITE. Therefore they have lots of features for SEO I don't need and are missing lots of features for local that I DO need. Plus the 2nd one looks like it only tracks 7 packs.

Then someone on another forum said they use SEO Powersuite Enterprise Edition for local rank checking. I briefly looked for info on their site but didn't find anything about local. Maybe I missed it.

So if anyone tries any of these and has any luck, please let us know. I just don't have time to test software, but I'll always share info I think may be helpful.

Yep ... I'm about to show my ignorance on this subject so please be gentle with me.

I'd be interested in learning how to get a client in the 7 box when there are already others there. And now with Google letting a company pay for a Sponsored position there ... what does the future hold once there are 7 Sponsored clients there? What happens if there are more than 7 paying?

Inquiring minds want to know (OK ... this inquiring mind wants to know).

The tags are a way of making your listing visible even if you are not in the A position. The yellow makes your listing stand out. If you ask me, it is probably the first of many things they are going to implement.

As far as method is concerned.....There are many methods teaching Google Places, some work and some half work. Getting into the Seven box in markets can be easy, some more difficult. The problem I see is that some people are doing "just enough" to overtake another fellow. You can't do that, in my estimation.

This leaves room for somebody to overtake you since all you did was a little bit more. The best method to use is one where you take a sledgehammer to a listing even if it doesn't call for one. The reason is that somebody is likely to come behind you with their consultant to take you out. How would you like to get a call saying, "Hey Bob, I thought we were in the "A" position, my calls have been falling off.

Theoretically, that is what maintenance is for when you are doing these; but what you want to do in the first place is blow the listing out of the water as you get to the A spot. Then, when some Warrior comes along behind you (count on it, it WILL happen), you have to create a high barrier to entering your market.

That, to me, is the unspoken truth about doing Google Places listings.

The barrier to entry is an excellent point. Big business has been creating barriers to entry for small guys for eons. The internet to a cast degree has changed this. So its a great lesson if we can use the same appraoch.

There is another way to look at it. To get the maintenance from the client and create a regular continuity income I would prefer to have my client call me and then act to hammer the competition. Imagine how a client would feel when his business is challenged and you step up and take action. This would be PROOF you are providing maintenance and your client will be happy and continue to pay is 'insurance dues'.... Just a thought.

It does actually - but it's also being given away for free here: Google Maps Listing Locator

The only issue is, Google's Maps API gives results a little strangely, so the exact position changes on some searches. Unless a program physically visits Google Maps and checks there, that's something you'd have to live with.

That's something I'd like to do, but unless somebody was paying me for it, I just can't add it to my schedule right now.

        Hey Chris,

I just tried your software out, very simple and easy to use. Seems like it only works for businesses in the US. I got no results for various businesses I entered in that are within Canada. The one I did find, however, in the US gave me positions 1,2,3,4 where they are number 1 on the Google map. What is this result suggestion exactly? Will it find listings past the 7 pack? (because I wasn't able to locate one for that same key phrase for a business that was on page 2)

        Thanks!

Yeah, it works for pretty much any location. But like I mentioned, Google Places' API gives weird results sometimes. You can literally hit search twice and the API will get two different results so it should really only be used to get a general idea of where something ranks.

But I see now you only focus on 7 box.

Thanks for your replies. I tried it again and it looks like you have to enter the EXACT title that is written for a particular Google Places listing. Results produced were different when I put the keyword in quotes and not in quotes. The results with no quotes was more accurate.

You're right. I completely forgot about that little factoid...

I've got it set so that you don't have to worry about captilization, but any other variations would be rather difficult to stick in there. Most languages don't have a "if a is really similar to b".

Chris solution will only check one keyword at a time - What we need is a version that will check mulitple keywords and mutltiple cities combinations at once.

Market Samurai will like wise only check one keyword at a time.

NOTE TO PROGRAMMERS: There is a huge market here and on other forums for GOOD software that will provide Google Places rankings. You stand to make a nice sum of money even a a heavily reduced WSO pricing. We would all be happy to beta test also.

      • Have you tried Rank Tracker?
Has some great reports, look at this information about it, I use it to do what you are doing for all my local clients.

      Rank Tracker Information + Video
      • Automatically checks your search engine rankings
No more spending hours on end manually checking your site's positions in search engines. Just sit back and let Rank Tracker do the boring job for you!
      • Shows if your site moved up or down in search results
Every time you check your rankings, Rank Tracker will conveniently show you the ranking difference so you can easily see if your site has moved up, or if it has slipped for whatever reason.
      • Helps you discover profitable keywords you've been missing out on!
Check this out: Rank Tracker includes a powerful "Suggest Keywords" feature. With it, you'll be able to grab traffic-generating keywords using Wordtracker, Google Suggest, your competitor's websites, and many other methods! (Rank Tracker comes with a total of 11 different keyword suggestion tools — with many more on our TODO list!)

This feature alone is so powerful, there are entire products that cost upwards of $100 that offer just this single feature!
      • Supports 701 different search engines
Rank Tracker supports 701 international and local search engines so you can track your rankings using the engine that matters most to you. The currently supported SEs include Google, Yahoo! and Bing with their localized versions plus hundreds of others.
      • Shows you the BEST keywords to optimize your site for!
Rank Tracker can show you how many times a keyword has been actually searched by real people over the last month, plus how stiff the competition for this keyword is. This "number-of-searches-to-competition" ratio is known as Keyword Efficiency Index, or KEI. This is how professional search engine optimizers pick the best keywords to optimize for — they choose keywords with the biggest number of searches AND the lowest competition. Go ahead, use the KEI feature to find out which keywords are worth it!

        Thanks Rob

I clicked the affiliate link you dropped in your post and did more digging.

Are you sure you use it to do what I asked about? To track Google PLACES (ie local, ie maps) rankings???

Because it does not sound to me like they support that option at all.

April 2010 from Admin in the forum:
"We plan to add it at some point but for now it isnot clear how exactly to implement this feature - the results vary greatly depending on the querying IP location and other factors. Moreover the positioning is tricky - for instance an "H" could be closer to the map center than an "A"... We are still working on a way to implement this - once we find a solution it will definitely be added to Rank Tracker."

Then just this month Admin answered a question and sounded like he didn't even really understand how local works. Someone asked again if the product helps with local and he didn't really answer but replied:

"Optimizing for local search is pretty much the same as SEO in general as you have noted. What you need to concentrate on is keeping your keywords and the anchor texts of your backlinks local, that is add geographical locations to them. Also specify your address on you page."

So he's totally focused on optimizing SITE for local ORGANIC SEO it sounds like and does not even sound very tuned into tracking Places rankings which is what we are talking about here.

        ===========================

The KICKER I see is that all these full featured traditional SEO programs
are tracking SITE rankings NOT Google Place page rankings. Huge difference!

So that means if your clients SITE is in the 1, 2, 3 or 7 pack, these programs MAY be able to track because the URL is embedded. (Unless it's a 1 pack, then there is no URL at all to the client's site.) But what happens when my client is #3 on the map search page, but does not show in a pack on the search page because that search only shows a 2 pack.

Also again there's the issue of new clients that have bad rankings and are #57 or #32 or even #8. They won't show on a 'pack' one page 1 at all, but you need to show their 'before' rankings in order to show them the progress you are making.

Side note - the software could stop at page 3 in maps. It would not have to search all the way back to find #57. So if the ranking was poor it could just say "not in top 30 results". That's what we do on our manual reports.

The other few REALLY BIG ISSUES that I don't know if even a really good programmer could get around are as follows.

Look at this map results page: plumber Chicago - Google Maps

Let's say my client I want to do a 'before' ranking report for is the plumber called "Fettes Love & Sieben."

When I manually search and put this (fake client) on a ranking report, I would list him as #16 because that's literally what he is. When the software looks for this listing, well 1st of all the 1st page of maps has A - J. Then you go to page 2 and everyone there is labeled A - J too. My example client (fake) is F on page 2, which I consider page 3 because they weren't on the 1st page of search. So how does the software know that F on page 2 is #16. If the client was F on page 3 would the software know to count that as #26?

Plus since there is no "link" to a site or client URL on the map search page, then what is the software searching for? Exact name I guess??? Google changes names all the time on me. Sometimes the name on the map search page is different than what is actually on the Place page. Happens all the time.

I can see all kinds of other challenges too, like the myriad of duplicate listing problems. Which dupe is the software going to count? If I'm counting manually I know which one to count because I know which dupe I'm going optimize and which one I'm going to merge and perge. But I don't think the software would. I get clients all the time who's unclaimed dupe with the same name outranks their main listing because the rogue dupe stole all their reviews. So I don't want it tracking the dupe rank, but the main listing's rank.

I'm making myself dizzy thinking about all the potential gotcha's. Suffice to say if a programmer were to take this on, they would have to be more than just a coder. They would need to intimately know all the quirks of Google Places.

Unfortunately, this (along with the fact that Places is probably one of the most "unstable" areas of Local SEO now), is why I don't think this awesome software would ever see the light of day, at least for a good while I'd imagine. There are just so many intricate things involved, it would take the massive funding/insiders knowledge/skills to produce something that is constantly updated. You could basically have a "Market Samurai", just for Google Places stuff. I can certainly dream though....

I've been following this thread a little and have 2 questions: 1) Using the 'plumber Chicago' example, how in the heck do the top 10 make it to the page 1, 10 pack? There are 11,000+ listings. It must be something more than correct citation and # of reviews. 2) Does anybody know of a white paper or other source that would walk me through setting up a GP listing with optimizing tips? Thanks.

Building backlinks to your listing helps your rank also.

I would like to add to the specs of the software. If we are going to get one let's do it right.

First of all we need all the data to be stored in a database so that we can Set up different clients and at the same time track progress. Ok here goes the specs.

    1. Set up clients; Company Name, Keywords
    2. Store all data in database
    3. On each client have the ability to store multiple locations, i.e. different cities & States
    4. Have the ability to run Report for one client or ALL clients.
    5. Store results in a database.
    6. Have the ability to set up scheduled Reporting / searching.
    7. Use some kind of color coding that let's you know if a listing has fallen since the last report or if a listing has gained ranking since the last report.

For anyone who is interested in contributing please let me know. I received a quote for something like this about 6 months ago. I could get another one if I know I have the funds. They quoted me 3 months to complete. PM me if you want to contribute.

I can code earlier maybe a month or even less, it depends on the budget, is that all or is there anything more that needs to go in it..

    Greetings Warriors!!

I saw this post yesterday and believe it or not I got an email this
morning that answered this question with a website that's currently FREE.
I went in and adjusted my site and I'll see tomorrow or Wednesday how
the changes I made help or not.

I do have one question before I give you the link

I am going to start a local marketing site for Gmaps and
currently have my own site in my Google account.
Is it better to start another account for the business
or just keep everything in my current account?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks Kurt. I sure would not use that for clients though. That's a service the sells leads to other SEOs so they will try to get your client.

Plus that service doesn't do what we are talking about. It shows a business all the places they are listed, not what keywords they rank for.

What we need is software where you can plug in a city and a big list of all the keywords and have it automatically check then spit out a nice report of all the local rankings you've gotten for your client.

Well i think if you provide a big list of keywords and a website url, that yo are trying to lookup rankings for, then i could be able to create a bot do prepare reports for the same.. I think this is doable.

But if you say look for the keywords a business is ranking for, then its like jumping into the ocean and looking for a fish called nemo..

I am in the final stages of developing an application that will allow the user to upload a keyword list and find which business are listed in Google maps for those keywords and export this list to a .csv file for analyzing. Without going into to many details this tool will provide several important benefits to offline consultants. In about a week I will be needing several beta testers to test the software and provide feedback for it's improvement. I will also need testimonials for the product launch. Please PM me if interested.

    • May want to wait on that now that Google just changed the entire game.

The new major format change Google just announced just really makes everything so totally different that you should wait til the dust settles.

Official Google blog with screen shots:
Place Search: a faster, easier way to find local information

Place Search is rolling out now and will be available globally in more than 40 languages in the next few days. During the roll-out process you can use this special link to preview the new results. Our goal is to help you feel like a local everywhere you go!
No more 7 pack! Layout, ranking, everything is totally different. In fact local ranking is now largely controlled by your client's organic ranking.

Yes, we were anticipating some big changes on Google's end. However the tool takes a different approach to gathering information. Instead of focusing on a specific listing/URL it focuses on the keywords. Say you have a list of highly searched, highly targeted keywords that you are wanting to rank your client for. This tool will allow you to upload those keywords and generate a list of the businesses that are showing in the search results for each keyword. This will not only allow you to check if your client is showing up for the best keywords it will also provide you a list of competitors that are and provide you a list of potential clients (those that are listed but not on the front page). This approach may be a bit different from what was described above but I think it will provide a more clear picture of who is competing for the best keywords.

      • I've been keeping an eye on Advanced Web Ranking. They had a REALLY hard time understanding how the NEW localMerge layout and algo worked, but they seem to be making progress. A friend that uses it for SEO rankings has been able to gerryrig it to semi work.

I just saw the leader of a big Places WSO talk about using RavenTools. So just started looking into it and I don't see anything about Places ranking. But it may do OK with the new localMerge rank checking. Come to think of it, he may have been talking about Raven for KW research and other stuff. Not sure. I'll try to ask him this weekend if he's using successfully for rank checking.

HOWEVER I can guarantee there is NO solution that handles everything right now. I just blogged with screenshots about the wacky unstable results Google is throwing out there. Sometimes you get the new localMerge layout (which is the new organic merge algo) . Then change cities or browsers and you get a 3 pack or 7 pack which is the OLD algo.
Then reverse word order in the search and you get some other flakey results.

So until Google finishes testing and settles on ONE algo and ONE layout it's pretty futile to try to figure it out. I sure would not start developing software OR buying software for rank checking until SHE makes up her mind!

      Hi MTB Rob

Jon and my applications aren't doing the same thing.

Jon will be able to give more info on his application, but I've had a look at it, and it appears that Jon's application does one side of the equation, which is gathering map data to help find potential clients.

Mine does rank tracking of a particular listing that you are already working on.

GMap Extractor was developed with three purposes in mind. First, to find the current G places listing position # for multiple keywords, save this information, and re-run the same query at regular intervals and see if the listing is moving up or down in position. Say you have 20 keywords that you are optimizing for, the application extracts the map listings for each keyword in consecutive order starting from the front page for as many listings as you want (usually, I want to see the top 25 for each keyword). Once the information is extracted the user can sort the results by title to see what position # each listing is in for all 20 keywords. The second purpose is to give visibilty to competitor listings by analyzing thier position for each keyword, the title they are using, which categories are being used, etc. The third reason I developed the progam and the part I believe Aaron is referring to is the ability to gather map listing data to help find potential clients. Once you see all the unverified listings, listings with no website, unoptimized titles and categories, etc. you will be able to use this information as an opportunity to offer consulting services to potential clients whose listings are not optimized. Hope this helps explain what the program was designed to do.

Not sure that I'm following all the communciations proper e.g. 7 Pack? But.....

I am very interested in finding a software product that will allow me to stick in any URL and compare it's relative positioning in Google (even if its 2 millionth)rankings. Of course I would need to get a ranking per keyword.

I think that a product like this would be very useful for those working on getting a better SEO ranking for their site. For example you could tweak your website and see if that made any difference or create more backlinks and see if that made any difference or write some article e.g all the normal SEO things.

I would like to be able to see the results of the fine tuning. This particularly valuable when trying to prove to a client that your efforts are indeed getting him a better position in the rankings.

GMap Extractor works a bit differently than what you described above. Instead of entering a URL you enter keywords and the software tells you the position # for all the G places listings being displayed for those keywords. Once the results are extracted you will be able to sort by Title or URL and see where your listings are positioned for all of your keywords. At this point you can save the results to a spreadsheet and show your clients exactly where thier listings are positioned for important keywords. If you run the software for the same keywords on a regular basis you will be able to see if your listing is moving up or down in position.

    Hi,
I am interested in software that will enable me to plug in any URL, and provide me with a ranking on any keyword that I put in. Does anyone know of such a product? Doesn't seem that one exist. I would be looking for a product that would search Google and position my url/keyword so that you could evaluate the various things that you do to improve the ranking (even if on page 1 million). I have several websites that don't seem to appear anywhere on Googles radar unless I input the actual URL. This would be extremely useful to be able to show my clients where they are positioned now and where they are position once I do my SEO magic!!!

@ JamieSEO and kllymichele if you are looking for more information about GMap Extractor you can find it on my WSO

@ Lawrence - Once you plug in your keyword list the software will pull all the listings on the front page of Google for each keyword. If your listing is not on the front page for any of the keywords you can do an additional listings search to find out what position, if any, your listing is in. I don't know about the millions but if your listing is beyond the first 100 you may as well consider it not listed because no one will ever see it.

@ lanbo - are you referring to my software when you say not a good investment?

I have been reading this whole thread through and have not seen anyone yet mention a factor which is most important in reporting gplaces ranking for a company. As I have been working this past year intimately with gplaces and all their changes even up to date with various companies located in different states in the US I can tell you it gets very frustrating to remember that glaces ranking depends a whole lot on the geo-specific ip address of the searcher. And not taking this into account can leave egg on your face many times when reporting to these companies.

Explanation... I am located in IL and I have a major client in TX, and an outsourcing team located in KS. Many times we believe because of our manual search we get our client in the A position only to find when we get them on the phone because they are located in TX when doing their search they do not see their listing anywhere even on the first page. And then their are times they will call us and give us congratulations that we finally got one of their keyword phrases showing in the A position and we go to check and it in the H position or not even showing on the first page.

So to make this a short story to even think of programming a software that will automate checking gplaces ranking you would need to ability to use geo-targeted ip address for each specific search or company report you would be creating. We have tested this more times than I can count and our major client of course is only going to be happy when we can get him ranked on his keywords specific also to his geo-location.

Just thought I would toss this in for some further thought.

@rocksolid thanks for you post, but let me ask you this.

Your clients can type in "house painter" and no doubt get the local results.

But if you are not in their catchment area you would need to add in the location.

e.g "house painter brisbane" (and use the right google datacenter for that country as well)

This should yield the same result.

I'd like to know your thoughts on this, since it works for me.

PS You can also change / specify your location on Google, but I've yet to see a difference using that.

What I am speaking of is through months of actual testing and doing. I always type in the location as well. Many times over the past months even to today I will type in searches like 'mold inspection nashville' and being in Illinois I will see like the listing I am working on in the C position on the page. I will call down to Nashville and get the owner on the phone and he living in Nashville will go to google and type in the exact search phrase and the listing on his end will be in the H position. I then hang up and call my branch office in Kansas and ask them to type in the same phrase from there. They will get the listing in the B position.

The above are just samples however it happens to us without fail. What we then have to continue to do is to ask the owner when he sees the listing in the A position as that is what they are after in the first place (relevant position according to his nashville ip).

So for us it positively depends on where you are located when doing the search as to where google will list the maps position on the first page. Very seldom will we all see it in the same position.

          Hope that explains it...

Very well said -- this is the definitely a critical item that needs to be accounted for. Early on before I understood this key point I had some serious egg on my face!

Another point to keep in mind is that when you are logged in as a specific user, the results Google shows in Google Places will often include your specific business listing or a business you look at a lot in a much higher spot than it normally is. When you look at the same business without being logged into your Google account, the resulting data changes.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I know when I do the GP listings, I blow my competition out of the water.
To be honest, I rarely check the listings after I am done.
I just know I will be dominating.
It's simple SEO. Just check what the competition is doing, and do more.
But not just a little more, a lot more.

I'm with RockSolid on this issue. I can do a rank check in Market Samurai that shows terrible ranking results and then just type the term into the G search box and my site is doing well (this is when I'm NOT logged in to my Google account AND where I am reasonably local to the search). I don't have sites in other states, so my searches do tend to be in IPs more local to the search Amanda

By the way, Rank Tracker works great for tracking listings for clients. It simply ranks from top to bottom (excluding PPC). So if there's a 7 pack and then 10 SEO results, the "A" listing would rank as 1 and the 1st of the organic would rank as #8.

It's not Google Maps specific, but it does work with packs as well as the new merged listings.

It might not be able to tell you if you're position 15 in places/maps, but it will tell you that you're, for example, position 29 alltogether (7 pack, 10 listings [page 1], + 7 pack, 10 listings [page 2] + 1 from next 7 pack [page 3] --> (7+7+1 = position 15)).

Hope that example wasn't too confusing. But the important part is that it lets you, and your clients, know where they stand overall on Google. To me, it doesn't matter what position they are in on maps/places, until they get to the first page. I would rather tell my client that they are in position 29, than in 15 in the above example, because that is the truth of the matter. There are 28 URL's showing before theirs.

The only way I could see this being a problem is if you're trying to sell page one rankings on both places and organic.

    Could just be me though.

Anywho, that's my 2 cents, and again, I highly recommend Rank Tracker, as it includes automatic scheduled reporting with graphs and all (customizable) that you can zip and send via email, or email with a link to the report that you host online.

    Hi all

I saw this thread and thought you might like to know that we've just launched a Local Search Rank Checker tool on a close Beta Trial.

The Tool allows you to track rankings in both local search engines (e.g. Google Places) as well organic search engines. It also monitors if your business is mentioned in local directory listings on sites like Yelp, superpages etc...

You can track unlimited keywords & locations too.

At present you can't save rankings or set up a report but this feature will be live in early Feb and will enable you to schedule daily, weekly, monthly reports and customise them with your own logo. This reports will also enable you to compare current ranking with past rankings going back for as long as you use the tool.

We're looking for Beta testers now so if you're keen to try it out & get a sneak preview just email me at myles [at] brightlocal [dot] com and i'll send you your password & access details.

Robbieshop as one of the beta testers for MapPi I can promise you that you'll find the price insignificant once you start using it.

This tool saves me sooooo much time it's a joke.

The first week I started using it in it's very early version before it had all the bells and whistles it has now I put on 3 new clients as a direct result of MapPi.

When I say direct result I mean that literally because of the data that MapPi returns and the ways you can sort that data it gave me an idea to try something new (a different angle so to speak) when contacting prospects that I hadn't thought of before.

That different angle resulted in 3 new clients. One of those clients referred me to my biggest client yet. That one is a big company and is worth $1,000 per month to me.

OK, I have used this a lot, and it is worth more than Cringer is charging for it. I have already made back the money several times - both on my time saved and on landing work.

Yesterday, for instance, half an hour's work (including messing around) yielded 6 different databases that I will be using for our purposes and clients' purposes - there's enough there to keep me going for 3 weeks' solid marketing - 3 months if I take it gently.

I've put up a couple of screen shots here on one of my business sites.

The drawback? It's exciting and addictive, and I've had to switch it off, or I won't get on with the aforementioned work

In no way was I complaining about the product itself (it looks amazing). I have been following it's development and was so impressed with what I saw in the video, only to be dissapointed with the price.

Yes, I remember what it was like! It was a while ago now, but to raise funds I did a few jobs here and there (cleaning, writing - whatever), and sold a few things on eBay. I make sure anything I buy for the business gets offset against tax/earnings.

Why not a 7-day trial for free or 30-days for $4.95?. Or is this exclusive to WF members?.
Because at $249 some of us may need more convincing than others.

Or better yet maybe someone with deep pockets can buy through my affiliate link.

Time for my .02 I have been using Cringer's software for about 6 months. It is an amazing product. Honestly worth every penny he is charging. I wish he would charge alot more just to limit the amount of peeps having the software. If you don't buy this program, thank you! If you do, you will not be sorry...

I also want to know the difference/pros and cons between this and power leads pro. I was set on buying power leads pro, but its possible I get this instead. Can you send spun emails from it also? Does it just scrape google places or does it do other directories?

This software is absolutely working! Check out this video:

It will grab the listings in the box
      Tell you if its verified
      Contact info, phone, address, email
      # of reviews, citations, photos and video
      Ave of reviews
      Ranking history

Its very good and is getting me more leads than I can handle.

This software is more than research then? It helps you to place the listings? Is that right?

The price is good and bad. Good because it keeps it a "tad" more exclusive. And bad because I can't spend that...yet.

Hi Cringer, so this is the original GMap Extractor. That was a sad state of affairs.

    Glad you've got this live.

Nice video on the sales page, except when you changed to screen capture in the middle with the background music. The music was to loud compared to the voice part, and you should have kept the voice over going, explaining what we were looking at.

As for the price point, well after using GMap Extractor for a short time while it was going, $247 is worth it, you're first client will easily recoup the cost.

I can't help but to mention my own - PowerLeadsPro - Yes, it tells you page# position and if business is verified Also does a whole lot more !

PLP will be going up in price on Monday, for those it becomes way out of reach, I will be releasing a portion of what PowerLeadsPro can do and that will be the Google Maps Extraction Portion and I'll throw in Google Search Engine as a bonus (plus you can email them all with just 1 mouse click )

    Hey guys,

I've been using this software recently and it just got additional features added for Google Places with Page and Position ranking. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for.

TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, PLP Chiropractor New York NY

The software is at $277 right now and I was informed recently that it would be going up to $497 by thus Monday due to additional features. The closest thing to this software is around $4000.00. I am not providing an affiliate link.

That software for 4k can not touch Power Leads Pro .. The price will be going up on Monday, for those that is becomes out of reach I will be releasing Power Gmaps Pro that will be a lower price and perhaps more affordable for some.

Can any of these great tools actually remove duplicates. This is one of the most important features and none of the tools offer this.

It is especially important when you are working multiple cities and multiple searches.

Hm! Local Rank tracking for google places listings is actually quite an issue coz even for a few local rank tools out in the market, tend to push in the location as part of the keyword itself which really spoils your purpose of checking your result for "plumbing services" for someone who's location is set in Columbus, OH. As many people in Columbus wont won't always type in "plumbing services Columbus OH"! The tool needs to cater even for those keywords that do not have location in them.. thats just my thought..!

Hey folks, I really felt I had had enough of waiting for a decent rank tracker software that works and it indeed was killing me to perform manual rank checking for all my google place pages. I needed something that fits my needs and I infact come to realize that my needs are the same as the others involved with google places.

So, I ended up making the software for myself and would like to make it available to you also - It sure has saved me loads of hours already and is surely going to save many more hours in the future.

I have now decided to expand the scope of the software further by increasing the features, include several countries and also make it available to those interested, so if a google places rank tracker or a google places rank checker software is of interest to you, take a look at the video of the already functional beta version below.

I hope that this software is of interest to you.

I need feedback from you folks to finalize it and make it available as soon as possible.

BETA TESTERS: I need 2 SERIOUS beta testers, and by SERIOUS, I mean people who are willing to get the software at a heavily discounted price, and for a return, work alongside me for all the testing and feedback. You will be assisting me with testing out each of the countries and testing various keyword combinations and software settings to take it through rigorous testing. I plan to release the software pretty soon, so you will need to work quite a few hours with me and be able to provide your input quickly.

    Please let me know here

PRICING: How much is this software worth to you? I am thinking of putting it up for a small price of $77. What do you think? Please share how much will you be willing to buy it for so I can decide an acceptable price that suits you folks. Please be reasonable in your suggestions.

    Please let me know here

AFFILIATES: If you would like to become an affiliate, I am thinking of offering 50% per sale. Not sure where to put the affiliate program up as yet, however clickbank and click2sell are prospects.

    Please let me know here

JOINT VENTURE?: I have never done joint ventures before and would welcome any ideas and partners for a joint venture.

    Please let me know here

WANT TO KNOW WHEN THE SOFTWARE BECOMES AVAILABLE?

    Please let me know here

Hi folks, I have been asked for a list of features, so here goes.

    - Firstly and most importantly, you can use the rank tracker to check ranks on neutral keywords. Neutral keywords are basically keywords that don't have the location specifically mentioned, i.e. 'restaurants', instead of 'restaurants milwaukee'. You cant always expect people to write the location along with their desired keyword. Thus, you would like to know where you or your client are ranked for neutral keywords such as 'restaurants' or 'dentists'.

The software uses the in-built google settings tab to determine the location of preference and therefore delivers correct results for even neutral / general keywords that have no connection to the location. This is a key feature for google places rankings and you can deliver massive advantages to local businesses by ranking for these types of keywords. This emulation setting eliminates the ranking issues with Google API and also resolves the IP issues that distort the rankings based on location.

    - Check rankings for multiple keywords. You can also use the in-built feature of easily adding /removing suffixes and prefixes to keywords.

    - Check rankings for any city / suburb / town that google accepts within your chosen country. There is no restriction on the locations you set since the software uses googles own settings to allow you to determine the location instead of guesswork that results in incorrect rankings. The software is also therefore able to evolve alongside google location updates, without any need for modifications to the software itself.

    - The software supports several countries and the final list of countries is currently being worked on.

    - Ranking information is displayed along side the google page 1 pack count and a simple visual notice is also provided to notify whether the business is on page 1 or not.

    - Ranking information can be exported to CSV for further analysis.

    - Ranking and history Graphs are automatically produced for the keywords.

    - Ranking graph plots can be saved as image files to include into client reports.

    - You can select how many google pages you want to browse to check the business rank.

    - Google Search Engine courtesy settings to avoid google ip bans.

    - You can save any number of project files for different clients or keywords on your hard drive. This not only lets you to manage your rank information properly, it also allows you to share the rank files amongst other users of the software - e.g. if your client has the software, all you need to do is send them the project file and they can do all the rank checking themselves - this alone will save you several hours of work preparing unnecessary reports (hint: you can sell the software to all of your clients using your affiliate link so they take advantage of this feature and it will save you loads of time too).

Pls do take a look at the video presentation in my post above.

Would you like any more features? Let me know.

      • I have been BETA testing several programs and the best one is ready to launch. I'm working on my blog post announcement and waiting for the official press release and then will post it here.

        Stay tuned. It's HOT!

It's not one of the half baked ones that looks like raw code or does not track well. It's a SLICK interface with really nice CSV and PDF reports for clients.

        More info soon.

            Local Search Rank Checker

VERY SLICK! 30 day Free Trial too.

I blogged my review about it yesterday including a PDF ranking report I did for one of my clients so you can see a sample report. But now with the new features they just added you can brand the reports. I have not done that yet. Here are a few bullets about the rank tracker.

.:. Save reports for each client or branch
            .:. Schedule automated weekly reports
.:. Compare current ranking with past rankings
.:. Customize reports with your logo & branding

Also the founder of BrightLocal reads my blog so if you have any feedback or suggestions, leave comments and I'll be sure he sees it. They also have some other amazing Google Places and Local SEO tools coming out soon.

So to anyone else they would think you wrote it. But it's what I wrote in reply to Tom and then also what I wrote about ANOTHER tool not yours, so it's a little bit deceiving or was a mistake or something.

So, what have you decided on and why for your LOCAL ranking software? I am in the midst of trying a couple but having a hard time deciding on which one to go with.

Would love to hear some opinions from those that are using LOCAL Ranking Software.

          Thanks in advance...

Wish they had a free trial. Hate to spend that kind of money and then be disappointed. There's no guarantee. No screen shots. No one to contact to ask questions, to express concerns, to complain. Nothing. I'm afraid to buy that one.

        Hi Kathy,

Its software, in most cases software does not carry a guarantee. You can't buy any type of software in Best Buy or from major software companies and get a refund Guarantee. They do this because they know people will just copy the software and continue using it after they received a refund.

Your fears are just unfounded and completely baseless. Really. I find it strange that your very first post is completely negative about my product.

When I look at a keyword like- San Diego plumber - in Google's KW tool it says that there are 12,000 searches per month.
As I understand it that does not include people in the San Diego area who only include the term- plumber- in there searches as opposed to searching for the full search term- San Diego plumber -

So when the software being discussed says that It will also include neutral keywords does that mean that it will rank for searchers in the San Diego area who only search for- plumber- and show how many people just use the kw plumber without the modifier?

Hi, This is not a keyword research tool, it is a rank checker for google places businesses. You can use the Google Adwords Keyword tool to check the search volumes of target keywords.

What neutral keywords means is that the software will get you the ranks for the keywords, whether you have the location added to the keyword or not. So if you were wanting to check the rank for a plumbing business in San Diego, you would set the Google Settings to San Diego and then put in just Plumber or San Diego Plumber or both.

      Hope this clarifies it.

Google Places Rank Tracker and Checker software is NOW AVAILABLE. I had posted an intro video on this thread earlier - it is now available and its rockin' hot, far more advanced and feature rich compared to the beta preview I provided earlier.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ss-owners.html

I know it has taken a bit longer than I would have liked it to and I have had several messages requesting the software, but I had to give it lots of testing. It is now all set to go rank searching, reporting, tracking, graphing, 21 countries, and a whole lot more. Nothing beats it. Enjoy!
