Getting You Foot in Door as Newbie Consultant

Since I'm a newbie without a track record or a lot of experience, I think risk reversal is critical. I'm planning to give my clients a couple hour no risk consultation so that I can give them a few basic ideas that they can use right away to establish my credibility such as ad tracking, referral system, etc. If my ideas don't pay off they don't have to pay. Since I already know they will, its a great way to get my foot in the door.

    Make sure that you also ask them for permission to use the results and if they would be prepared to do a testimonial for you once it was all done and successful.

    Forget about "free consulting". Rather tell them, pay me X and if you don't get at least 3 times out of our opportunity analysis (or whatever) I'll refund your money and pay 10% of my fee out of my own pocket plus I'll let you keep my book. Does that sound fair mr prospect?

    Lowering the amount of free consulting gives you more time with qualified buyers. If their not interested, their probably not qualified anyway. Good luck
