Has anyone tried the Google Places tags?

I got an email talking about google places tags. I wondered if anyone had tried it yet and if so, what were your reactions?

    We used it for one client this past month on the free trail. He got two leads that mentioned the 'tag' discount. Unfortunately he decided not to continue as we would have needed a longer time frame to really test the effectiveness.

    With the free month you can't go wrong. My feeling is many won't continue with a long enough 'test' period unless they are in a higher traffic businesses in local search such as restaurants, long enough to find out its true ability to dive leads, if any.

    Shane, thanks for the input. I was thinking something similar. I don't think one month is long enough for anyone to test anything.

    yeah, I dont think its worth it, there's no added rankings boost of any kind and it mentions that its a paid ad which doesn't help

      Google Boost is being tested in 3 cities now. You can boost your Place listing and only pay for clicks. I can't see this getting much action for most businesses either as it is hard to track this online-to-offline transaction.
