Business Name & Domain Name

The name I've chosen for my local marketing business is Performance Marketing but I'm not finding a good domain for my site to match. I already own marketingwiz.net and was planning to go with it.

If anyone sees any reason why this business name and this domain name should not be joined together in holy matrimony, please speak now or forever hold your peace.

Thanks.

Why don't you create a sub domain on your root domain. You can add a totally new index page or blog installation on there.

    performancemarketing.marketingwiz.net

This is great advice! People need to realize that subdomain's are great ways to rock your new products and or businesses under one brand.

Thanks Vincenzo. I'll be putting the domain on my business cards and I want something short and easy to remember.

You might purchase domain ( huge investment- big return), or find the name for your business and domain that's not registered... You should consider some of those options

Have a look at the free guide in my Sig, marketing and your business name was developed by accident in many ways to cover that topic where new business students were not thinking about the connection between the two / take a read it may help ?, so for me they should be joined as it would only serve to confuse clients / customers with a kaleidoscope of options / names and makes you branding harder.

/ if you have the chance now i would change it up if you have not even started out, thats just my call.

sub tags or titles could be added to break down the main theme or title into smaller sections.

      Hi Pete,

Thanks but I don't see a free guide in your sig about "marketing and your business name". I only see stuff on PPC and Lead Gen.

Ok, so I did another domain search and found performmktg.com Not exactly memorable eh? But it does match with the business name...sort of.

    Any thoughts?

Does the domain you intend to go with need to be a .com? (I figure not due to the fact that your second option is a .net) Any how I jumped on namecheap and did a quick search and found the following available:
      • performancemarketinggroup.net
      • performancemarketinggroup.org
      • performancemarketingllc.net
      • performancemarketingllc.org
      • performancemarketingguy.com
      • performancemarketingcompany.net
      • performance-marketing-company.com
      • performance-marketing.us

      Hope this helps.

I think the everyday person (including business owners outside of the advertising/marketing field) like to see your business name in your url. You may think it's boring, but in my opinion it adds to the consistency of your marketing efforts and I think potential clients like to see that. I'm in marketing and I always pause when someone's url doesn't contain any variation of the business name. I don't think it looks as professional.

Can you do some variation of performancemarketing.com and include your city since you are doing local marketing? Ex: atlperformancemarketing.com? Also, definitely go with a .com. for the same reasons stated above. Potential clients like to see it, and let's face it, for the most part, google likes .coms a whole lot better, so your chances of ranking for certain keywords are better.
