Where is the offline gold?

So from experience, what offline industries have responded the most to your telemarketing efforts for web design? I just started selling web design via telemarketing. I got a 4k list of restaurants and auto body without web sites so my telemarketer is just going down the list and calling.

Wouldn't selling web design services to local businesses...be considered a normal activity for a web design business?

I think the term "offline gold" is starting to lose its meaning...but that's a side rant for another day...

In reality any business that has a target market, which uses the internet, will be open to the idea of having an online presence created...its just a matter of making them an offer they can't turn down really. =P

    Cheers,

I don't quite know where you are getting at.

What I am trying to ask is what sectors have responded the best to telemarketing efforts to sell web design? Because when I bought my list of 4k and looked at all the names, I noticed that an overwhelming majority of them are Asian. My list is any restaurants doing less than $1mil in revenue and between 1-4 employees. And being Asian myself, I KNOW that selling to Asians is hard as H*LL. Another lesson I've learned from my list is that restaurants don't respond as well to telemarketing efforts as they are always on the go with customers---bringing out the food, ringing up the register, taking orders, etc. Auto shops have responded a little better but around here, Asians still own a fair share of them.

Anyway, from my limited prospecting efforts, I should advise everyone to:

    1) Not aim for restaurants
    2) Not call Asians

if you are trying to sell web design, why not find those who need the service. Yes restaurants are a start, but does your list only consist of restaurants?

I know there are a lot of people who could use a website or a better one. Perhaps you need to focus on the prices of your packages, I'm not sure. I wouldn't have bought a list though! I hope you didn't spend hundreds of dollars on your 4k list, when you could've pulled the same information from Google.

As far as the offline gold, you would need to sell business owners your web design services, by walking into their place of business and present and sell your services there right on stop. I would consider this the gold that you get while working offline.

I have found that clients will respond to you when they are comfortable that you are an expert in what you are doing. It can be SEO, Social Media, Website Design. It doesn't matter. Be an expert in one thing and then upsell them to other services when you have wowed them with your first service.
