What do I need to do to get client in top of google places

Hello Offline warriors,

I am trying to get my client in the top 3 of google places when someone searches for her line of business in our area. Any ideas as to how to get the rank higher. I did a search for companies atop google places for my clients line of business and some dont even have websites. How do you get on top of there

    buy a few wso's- I was partially kidding to that.

    I would first start by creating them an account with google places.

    After that I honestly don't know because most of my clients dont have a actual store location

      well....no one knows for sure....but I would do this....

      1. sell and complete a local/national directory package....i.e. yelp, insiderpages, yb....etc
      2. tweak the Google places listing...add photos, add video, add multiple descriptions/categories, add additional or proximal locations

      this should help kick start your efforts.....good luck

    From my research I would do a really complete listing (with pics and vids). Don't leave anything out. The paid directory submissions are important. The idea is to get the business contact info., phone #, address in as many places as possible. Google likes this. This is the one time you get a bonus for duplication, lol.

    One other thing is to create some social media pages, weebly, squidoo etc. Put your client's business name and keyword into the title of the page. Then make sure you include the contact info. in the body of the page, along with relevant content etc.

    This will give you a great edge of the competition!

    It has been heavily suggested that using organic SEO methods on a business' website will help to boost their Google Places entry, and the 2 can eventually merge together.

      Hey Ashley

      Thats right.

      The Google changes 4 or 5 weeks ago now means that you really do need SEO and Google Places in a local area.

      Make sure that they have plenty of good customer reviews, make sure that the business citations are spread throughout as many of the directories as possible and get some backlings happening.

      That should do the trick.

        Woot!

        Ok, I just checked a client who I added to Google places this past month.

        She is now showing in the #6 position for "restaurant (location)"

        She has far less reviews than the competitors - so I think this is going to be one thing to change.

        Her website is VERY new - as in 2 months.

        She has virtually no backlinks yet either.

        I sat down with her when I was doing the listing. I brought my laptop to her business and she was there step by step to approve everything I could think of to add to her listing.

        We created categories that did not exist or were not suggested when we made her listing - so I think this has been a great key - lots of details!

        This is out of 6,705 listings - but I'm not sure how accurate this is. It appears some of those listings toward the back end are for review type sites, etc.

        I'm sure there is a formula - some "onsite and offsite google places" optimization - not talking about onsite offsite of the customers primary site (although this too will play a role I believe)
