Offer One Package Or A Choice

It looks like I may have my first client though nothing is confirmed. Does anyone have any advice if it's better to offer one package vs two (the second being smaller). He is a physician and has a few clinics. I am planning on including some seo optimization for his existing site, video distribution, article distribution, a press release, backlinks and submitting to some local directories for him. I'm not sure how to price this and if it's best to offer a few options in terms of packages. His existing site is "pretty" but not optimized and I want to also use various web 2.0 properties to help with some page 1 rankings for local and longtail phrases. Thanks for any ideas. He does have some understanding of the internet as he has youtube videos, a facebook page and is in some local directories already.

I currently have three packages for SEO, and then different "add-on" services which are generally a one-time fee.

    Lisa,

Thanks for your input. Do you have monthly maintenance you do and can I ask how you price things?

I custom build packages for my clients. The SEO is a standard fee for local keywords, I charge $1,497 up front and $497/month recurring.

I also have pricing for Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, charging $297 to set one up correctly and $147 to maintain it (certain amoutn of wall post updates every month, more content, pictures, etc)

It's really effective to custom build packages around your clients so that you are helping them the most possible. If your goal is to find services that help your client, you'll find you can ask almost any price under $5,000 and the business is ready to shell it out, if you can really help them out

      Brenden,

Can I ask what you include in the 1497 package? Is it a certain number of keywords and does it include video marketing ? For my own affil sites I've done well but I've used outsourcing with others under their own acct names for many tasks such as video distribution, article distribution, bookmarking, press releases etc. However, with this client I want to not have his acct mixed in with other people's accounts but have everything be just exclusive for him. Obviously this involves much more set up and preparation.

I never guarantee optimization for a certain number of keywords. However I give them a list of keywords I will be targeting and let them know how many searches cumulatively those keywords receive. No it doesn't include video marketing, this is strictly SEO.

I normally charge them to re-optimize the site, post content to various web 2.0 and article directories, backlink their site, backlink the articles, do a bookmark submission (either through onlywire or any other tool you have), RSS feeds of everything, submit the feeds, and normally they see movement.

The types of keywords I'm targeting are local, and most of the time it takes few backlinks to move them up. Sometimes I run the backlinks through articles that if the customer quite paying me, I could re-route the links to a new customer, and the old one would move back down.

        Hope this helps

I have found that too many choices confuse things. I will usually offer them one package and then make modifications up or down as we discuss it. This keeps it simple and straight forward.

I agree with fvandy you can confuse someone out of a sale.

Think of what it is that you do, what you really do. If you're an SEO service provider then that's what you ARE, not what you do.

Write down in one sentence what you do and sell that as your main package. They must buy into your core product before you can think about add ons and extras.
