Google Places Rank Tracker Software - beta testers welcome

Hi all

Got sick of waiting for a tool to track my clients Google Places listings so built one for myself.

This is BETA software, so keep that in mind and it's raw.

Local Google Places Rank Tracker

There are no bells or whistles but it works, at least it does for all of my testing.

Before spending a heap of time on making a massive Market Samurai style application for tracking rank, I thought I'd start simple to see if anyone was interested in it.

Let me know your thoughts.

  • Hey thanks for the chance to beta your software.

I am experiencing some contradictory results though.

After clearing all browsing history, cache, and cookies across all three major browsers the software is reporting false rankings.

Is your software fetching a cached version of Google index or something?

    • If you have any issues, please send in a support ticket to Web Smart Central Support Help Desk and include the log file and where are you are located in the world.

The log file ( LocalRankTracker.log ) is written to the user documents directory.

So on vista it's usually c:\users\name\documents

The testing we've done so far has shown accurate results for searches within your own country, so I'm keen to see what other people find.

The results aren't cached, they are live.

    • >Are you planning to sell this or package it afterwards?

Depends what the market tells me.

If it's popular and there is a need, I'll build it out to a proper application, and charge for it. As I've done with my other software products.

This only took 3 days to throw together and a few hours to get the website ready.

If it takes off great, if not, not much lost, and I still have a tool that I use on a daily basis.

Thanks for the handy tool. I've been working on a similar application. The big difference is that it will allow users to search multiple keywords for multiple listings and I think I've just about got it. I really wanted to add a keyword search function but with all the changes to Google lately the keyword search function just too unpredictable and I am going to remove it. I don't believe it will be a problem though as most offline consultants already know the keywords they are competing for. Please shoot me a PM if you would like to test out the software.

    Best Regards
    Jon

    • Would test, but need to know - mac friendly? Won't download if not. Thanks.

    • That is excellent Jon, I've sent you a PM. In my mind Market Samurai could churn out a new module in about 1 day to cater for this application, based on their existing organic SEO rank tracker strengths. So I didn't want to spend much time on it, just get the concept down and get it to market.
  • This is definitely a useful tool - I have a client we 6 offices and a number of important keywords and the rankings keep moving. This will be a big help

    • Thanks for the comments everyone.

There is still some fine tuning being done, since a few people have commented on weird results and I can validate that.

      More investigation is currently underway.

  • Is this free of charge?
    • [1] reply
    • Yes the beta is free, I haven't decided to make this software into a full blown application yet.

Let me know what you think.

Even if I do I'll keep a version totally free, with an upgrade to the bigger application.

    • Thanks for the words of support everyone.

I've been busy on other projects over the last week, but am turning my attention back to the local rank tracker.

I'll send out an email to all the beta testers and get this party started.

      Aaron
  • Does this tool scrape data? Like addresses, websites, emails?
    • [1] reply
    • No, did you watch the video or download the free beta?
  • no, I didn't but I am trying to find a replacement for the gmapextractor that got shut down recently.
    • [1] reply
    • Yes that was a sad state of affairs for those guys involved with that other software.

This software complimented it, since it just tracks rank only, which the other software didn't do. Up to position 300 in Google Places. And it's cross platform, MAC OSX, Windows, Linux

  • Is this still working well?
  • Thank you for this, I am going to utilize it.
  • Thank you very much! This is a very useful tool for each new client, to follow the evolution of his ranks. Great idea!
  • What happened with this software...the site hasn't been updated since Feb...is it dead?
    • [1] reply
    • Thanks for asking.

Not dead, far from it. Did you grab the free beta trial?

I've been keeping the current beta testers up to date via email.

We are a few days away from a full release. I'll be notifying everyone in a couple of days, with a video of the full version.

Those on the current beta will have first access at a discount of course.

As per all my other software I'll have a 7 day free trial of the full version, so you can check it out if it's right for you.

  • Hi Aaron does this software only work with Google.com or is it good for other places like the UK as well?
    • [1] reply
    • Yes, works with any google that has google places.

Grab the beta and test it for yourself and watch the video.

      Aaron
  • Seems like there are a lot of different types of software coming out dedicated to Google Places lately, I figured it is about time. Hopefully the big G won't throw any "curveballs" at your software, as they tend to have done with some of the other Places-dedicated software out there.

Looks like a great tool for the offline market Aaron!
