Is there a way to Pre-Rank Google Local Listings, so I can present it to a client?

Hi,

I already have a website for a decent niche, which is ranking around the 3rd spot on first page of Google. However, I have not yet approached any business owners, and I really want to have it all down pat, and present them with a great deal that can be put into use immediately. Naturally, I think this will be better for me, as I will be more prepared for my first 'deal'.

Now, I have read some eBooks on how to try and optimise Google local listings, but I will admit, I have not read much on the new updates put in just recently (about 3-4 weeks ago) however (with the new changes), I know that the websites ranking can now help with the local listings and their positioning. I also know to optimise the listing, fill it with information anywhere and everywhere that I can, to get citations and reviews, not only on Google but other local directories.

So that is all down pat. But, what about actually getting a living proof example of MY work that I can present them? I mean, I can go and meet them and show them that MY website, which can be THEIRS is already on the first page of Google, in the 3rd spot. All it takes is for me to put their information on there, that's it!

Is there a way for me to do the same with the local listings? IE - to have a listing already there, (on the top 7 at least) and say, this is my listing, I can just easily change it to your address and your contact details and off you go? Or is this completely not possible?

If anyone has any information, please enlighten me, I will be more than appreciative!

    Yes its easy. Set up a false business and get it to rank in the maps listing.

    Hi Keith,

    But if I do that, when I actually 'switch' it over to their actual business details, won't it drop rankings, as now the citations on the internet do not match the old, fake address? And also the submissions on local directories would have the fake address, so essentially I would need to make new local directory listings all over again, too? Or am I missing something?

    What I mean is create a listing just so you can show future clients. I created one I own and pass on any leads to a local business but I control it.

    So the one you control still has some legitimate business' information on there, and you sell the leads to them (or loan the google listing to them)?

    Do you know if there is any way to do what I want to do, where I can just change the fake/non existent details over to their real details (once they sign the paper) and still retain rankings?

    I would never put up false listings on Google Places.
    You are violating their TOS, and can get your account suspended, if not banned.
    Good luck on using your Black Hat methods to try to cheat the system.

    I personally would offer the client, a guarantee. Say: "Look, I know how to get you good rankings on Google, as I have shown with this website.
    I can do the same for your Places listing, at no risk to you.
    If I can't get you rankings in the 7 box within xx days, then I will give you your money back, or suspend monthly payments until I do."

    Come to think of it, I wish more marketers would create fake listings. I would dominate all over the fake ones. Which would result in more business for my clients and more business for me.
    If someone goes to Google and types in "Niche + City, State", and all that comes up are fake businesses, and my clients business. That would be awesome. Sure would make my job a lot easier.

    Thanks for your insight vndnbrgj,

    Hope I did not offend you with my curiosity, was just seeing if there was a 'time saving' way. But, now with your advice, I think it actually is better to always have one website where you can always show potential clients that 'you' got them ranking that well, and that you can do the same for their business.

    Time to try and rank for a random client now, will see how it goes. Thanks for your advice.
