When you guys set up an autoresponder for a client do you set them up with their own aweber account? Or do you simply add a new campaign under your own account, thereby keeping control of the list and keeping costs down?

If you put their campaigns under your list, what do you do about the signature at the bottom that includes your business name and address?

There are multiple issues with adding client campaign to your auto-responder. You mentioned one, which is your business name and address listed in every email from auto-responder service. The second one is email address that your auto-responder service uses to send emails, since it has to be confirmed with auto-responder service. You can set up gmail on customer behalf, but that is not right way.
Therefore my choice would be to use your affiliate link to sell auto-responder services to your client and then manage them. If your client ever decide to go away, this would be clean separation.

P.S. Russ had great idea while sitting on specific place but that idea won't work since you can not enter your prospects email address as send from, it has to be yours. I will add comment to his post asking him how he solved this issue

P.P.S Sorry for posting incomplete response, I have no idea why I pressed the post button

I am presuming you offer a marketing services company which is why you would set up auto responders for a client.
I guess to keep costs low you could create a new list for your client and add a new signature to each list accordingly.

With aweber I didn't think you could add a new sig to each list? I thought your business name and address are the same no matter what the list?

It depends on who's going to be managing it. If you are managing the list, I'd put it in your account. If someone else is, they should probably have their own account. That way they don't have to go through you to modify stuff and you don't have to give them access to your personal account.

    Hope that helps!

That's what I want to do. But what about the problem of the signature?

I usually setup my clients with their own DirectResponders account for 9.95 a month, but if they can't afford that right now I manage their list(s) under my account. With DirectResponders you can have a different signature for each autoresponder you setup so it's easy.

You should consider ListWire. It's a free autoresponder service is costs are the issue.

It provides everything aweber does (or at least claims to). The one potential disadvantage is that when a subscriber confirms their subscription they are taken to a one time offer of a rather pricey make money online product sold by the creator of Listwire. I guess that's how he makes his money. This is OK in the make money online niche but might not work so well in the train your french poodle to serve breakfast niche.

Anyway, check it out and you may find you can live with the annoyance of the OTO, but cost won't be an issue since the service is entirely free--you can set up each client with their own account and manage it for them.

What is the deliver-ability of DirectResponders vs aweber? It sounds like a great product and I love the price but deliver-ability and features would be my main concern. What has been your experience?

I'd look to set them up with a separate Aweber account in their name that you have access to. If it's in your name, then technically you own the list, not them.

Also, there may be legal issues if the list is in your name. The prospects are signing up to a list with your client who promises not to sell, rent the list etc to others, but in reality they're signing up to your list, not that of your client. I'd be concerned about privacy issues with this.

Also, don't forget when you're dealing with a lot of small businesses that the monthly cost of Aweber isn't that great compared to a lot of their other costs. They should have a marketing budget and Aweber should be part of that.
