Could some offline veterans help me concerning business name?

Well I Took It To The Streets! I will have to say I didn't sleep very good last night, I scored my first 2 clients yesterday! Its funny, I don't have an official business name.

Im thinking "TWagner Interprises" I like the word Enterprise (one definition is campaign) but with the twist, but I don't know if it would hurt SEO for local listing and google places with the word interprises being a misspelled word

Im also thinking "TWagner Web Solutions" or "TWagner On the Web"

Any insight from the warriors would be greatly appreciated!

I just want to say that this forum is a Godsend for filling in the blanks and I feel privileged to be here.

Thanks again to those that have helped me,

Tony

To be honest, business names seem so trivial... Just go with whatever you want. Most of the time, you're selling yourself, not a name - as you can already tell by closing 2 deals and not even having a name yet.

One thing to consider though is if you have "web" or "internet" or "SEO" in it, you're kinda "tied" to online marketing when there are tons of forms of marketing that don't include the web. Just a thought...

Brand your name so use a variation of that.

Oh and great job taking it to the streets, I've been preaching that for months now.

    Keep it up!

Whenever someone hands me a business card with an "Enterprises" business name I usually assume this person has no f'ing clue what they're doing and just throw the card out.

I've never met anyone doing business under the tag "enterprises" that wasn't a jack-of-all, master of absolutely nothing type.

Thats just my own experiences though.

Much better names. Why not just WagnerWeb or WWW(WorldWideWagner)

I understand you're wanting to "brand" yourself but "Twagner" means nothing to anyone looking for a service like yours. It's best to use a name that paints a picture of a benefit in a prospects mind. Take Rich Schefren's business "Strategic Profits." Get the picture?

You might want to consider adding "Esquire" to the end of your name.

"The word derives from the Latin scutum (shield), and Middle English esquier (shield bearer). It was also generally applied to upstanding members of society: judges, sheriffs, lawyers, professors."

        Just a thought

Wagner Media covers a lot of bases for you.

As your business evolves over time, you
          get to still sound relevant.

A media company always has an aura of importance.

It is not unusual for a media company to change it's offerings.
An example would be the trend for newspapers to move into the internet arena
          through buyouts and expansions.

You opened the way for growth through employees or outsourcing.

If you just stay with your name, people come to expect
you will be doing the work. Very limiting.

So attaching media to your name will work well.

          All the best,
          Ewen

P.S. I wouldn't worry about the name of your company for SEO purposes.
Perry Marshall And Associates is the number 1 authority on Adwords. Hardly
a keyword for Adwords unless you allready knew of him.

          Really? Really? Esq.?!!?????

Please don't do this. You aren't a lawyer (are you?) and youdont want to appear to your clients as being the master of puffery.

I don't think you should spell Enterprises incorrectly....most people won't get it and just think you can't spell!

I think you answered your own question when you said that you already got business without even having a business name.

If you go with the misspelling that could cause an issue with people trying to find you.

I agree with trying to include some type of benefit in the name, Yanik Silver had a good blog post about this a little while back.......you might want to check his blog.

I agree with Adam. The name is not so important as the service or product that you offer, but I would use something that is relevant to what you offer yet will allow you to expand your services as your business grows as Ewen suggested.

If the business name does NOT include your name then it's actually worth more when you go to sell it some day. Something to think about..

The shorter the better is my recommendation. Most companies that are very large and successful have very simple names. Less is more. Keep it to one or two words. In your case Wagner + "X", inc, media, llc, llp, services, and so on. Less confusion the better too; don't misspell a normal word. If it is a new word like google, facebook, then spell it any way you want like they did.

Alliteration can make your name easier to remember (repetition of the same sound at the beginning of words)..Such as Wagner Web Services
