The Most Amazing Video Marketing Strategy Ever!

Seriously, I just came across this viral video created by a Pizza company in New Zealand and it BLEW ME away!

MILLIONS of views in YouTube and I'm sure a great deal of future business for years to come.

Check it out:

Share your thoughts on it below, and how a toned-down version could even be done on a local level in your area (obviously using an experienced script writer / director) ...think of a local plumber using a similar idea for example!

PS - If more "big companies" made 30 second commercials like this on TV, which led to their company website etc., they'd most likely see a huge ROI.

I like the way they're thinking outside the box but I do think the vid was a bit too long and dragged in some places.

Also, pizza, for the most part, is very local in nature. Customers won't travel more than 15 miles to get it. So many views won't turn into a huge increase in customers as opposed to something that can be shipped or something digital that can be downloaded.

Traditional television structures don't apply to web video. You can be much more creative in telling your story and take as much (or little) time as you want.

Ultimately its about increasing the bottom line. Business owners should
make sure their advertising/marketing/creative people understand this.

Here's another "advertising" vid that I like

      And another

I agree about the pizza thing being local, but imagine if a Domino's or Pizza Hut did something like this vs the millions they waste on Superbowl ads etc.

Just to add I love the video and as you mentioned the idea is to think how we can use this strategy in our efforts.

I wonder what a local pizza place gets from this type of video but who knows. Though I am here in the US I may and try and contact them and see if I can get some information
Well imagine instead of "Hell's Pizza" this was done by a Fedex or a Western Union to represent how they WILL deliver no matter what etc.

The big picture of the post was more to get the creative juices flowing on the "outside the box" thinking of the potential of such videos =)

Yeah, it would make more sense if it was a national chain, but the idea for the viral video is pretty awesome. I love the interactive nature of it, making it more of an experience than just a normal video.

Hell Pizza is a national chain, and have also expanded into Australia, the UK and Canada, so they're by no means a small local outfit.

They have managed to create some pretty major brand awareness through controversial advertisements, including distributing branded condoms in mailouts. That one got them in a bit of trouble; there's more on their marketing here Hell Pizza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oh, and they make damn good pizza too!
