Get Google Places Help! (Attention Newbies)

I was thinking about creating a WSO about getting ranked in Google Places according to the new algorithm. I was wondering if this is something people would be interested in.

What I would do is make step by step videos of me ranking a GP listing.
This way you can watch right over my shoulder as I do everything.

I would ask for volunteer listings. This way I can help people that are really struggling now, in exchange for testimonials for the sales copy. (Of course I would give away a couple of review copies, as well.)

Is this something you would be interested in?
Would you like something added to this?
What price point would you like to see this at?

I would gladly do a review for you. I could offer the perspective from someone who is new to offline marketing and at the same time gaining a decent number of clients. Let me know what you need.

Thank you for the responses. I will keep you in mind.

I guess I didn't project my questions as well as I should have.
(I am not a writer, and not even close to being a copy writer )

Is a WSO like this something that you would be interested in seeing in the WSO forum?

If so, what would you like to see as a price point?

What I would like is everyone's thoughts on what they would like.
This is the offline marketing thread, so I would like to create something tailored specifically to the people here on the WF. This WSO would be about getting ranked in GP.

Would you like anything else added to this WSO?

I would probably be interested in a WSO like this, if you could add info about special challenges and show what you would do to get around them.

For instance, I have a client in the local dj business that I can't quite get in the top Google Places listings because 3 of the other local dj services are doing some serious marketing and even some black hat tactics. One of these other services has about a 100 Google listings (they made one for every single city and town, though they don't have a physical location there).

If you had solutions for something like this I could see trying your WSO at about $10 to 15 -ish, depending on the detail and scope of instruction, tips, methods, etc.

    Hope that helps.

While I generally don't advise to harm your compeditors, just because they are putting time and effort into getting more business. But there is the option to report a listing to Google and by what you are describing, they are definately not following GP's TOS. So that is always an option...

I would be interested in this as I have a few GP clients that I'm trying to get ranked to the A spot... As far as what I would like to see in the WSO... Basically, whatever info you feel in necessary to tell us. As far as the price-point, if it's really basic information, $10-17 would be good. If it's more indepth, whatever you feel the information is worth.

    Thanks.

Ironically, you were MY motivation to do this.
After hearing about your problems, I thought there needed to be a quality WSO that really helped people and offered support to those that need it.

If you can get the A spot consistently, I wouldn't charge less than $67 for a wso on this...

            Thanks Dan!

I wouldn't say you can consistently get the A spot.
No one should every tell you or promise you that.
But, there is a way to do it. You would just have to explain to your client that they should still keep you after going through with it.

Not only would it be about getting the GP ranking, it is also about dominating as much of the rest of the page as possible.

Just trying to see if there is a need.
If not, I won't make all the videos.

no real input just wanted to say thanks and that I think this is a great idea... Sadly I don't really work with GP so I don't have much need for this... But I think there are plenty of people out there who will benefit... should be big help for some offline marketers on here...

That's the point. There are people that don't work with GP yet. They want to get into it, but don't know where to start.
This will show you how to do everything.

Plus, I will create some more offers, and these folks will get them at no cost. I think everyone should do this. Sure they may loose a couple of bucks, but in doing so, they help people.
There is a quote out there, sorry if I screw it up, "Help enough people get what they need, and you will get what you need."

It will end up being more about Internet Marketing options, but starting with Google Places. This is your foot in the door.

How long and how much money would it cost (rough estimate and how long) to get say the A spot for a Chicago Carpet Cleaner? Just seeing if this could possibly be worth it

I think this owuld be a great idea for you. I get People constantly asking to show them listings of clients. Having a WSO where you can do that would place you in a unique position.

Ironically people aren't aware that it is fairly simple to do just that.

You can possibly make money by optimizing for a weak listing. You would be surprised how many companies have unclaimed listings on Google Places.

I would definitely be interested in this. If you could show how you get consistent top rankings in GP, i would say that it would be worth $67+ to me.

If you can pull it off I suggest a few "how to" videos. These could be Camtasia style using MS PowerPoint or the Flip camera type video with you narrating.

With video you can charge a bit more once you launch. Based on what I see in WSO's it's getting harder for any WSO above the $17 price point without a value add such as video tutorials or some kind of bonus.

One other suggestion, I think a REAL case study will give you social proof. Look for a non profit and offer to get them in Google Places for FREE. You then have proof of your method and it validates your training. You also give back in a nice way to your community. :-)

Thanks for sharing your plan. It's nice to see someone on the forum willing to ask.

Good luck and do let us know your next step.

    Dennis

PS: Just a suggestion, I would revise your "Local SEO Clients" link in your sig file as the rules are one can't use an affiliate link directly to the product. Put up a landing page and then link to the product. :-)
