Are there any good online lead sources for web designers?

Hi guys,

I am seeking a reputable source for leads for my website/logo/graphic art business. I see alot of over priced and 'bidding war' type lead services online, but does anyone know of an affordable, possibly exclusive companies?

Thank you!

The yellow pages are a goldmine for leads. Look for businesses that spend money on display ad.

I would then start working on ranking for cityname web design, cityname seo and other things if you want to avoid the cold calls.

Business networking would be another suggestion.

Part of our business is designing mobile websites, and over 80% of all our leads are generated from cold calling yellow pages and business directories. It's hard to realize there are any more "more targeted, prequalified leads" than businesses who spend upwards of hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month to get customers. You're just working waaaaaaaaaaay too hard by not cold calling, IMO!

I appreciate everyones input. I have done ALOT of cold calling for many years personally both B2B, and telemarketing. It's just alot of 'busy work' that I'd like to streamline in another way and move away from.

I owned a large construction company in the northwest, and was able to get it off the ground with door-to-door and telemarketing and respect this hustle, but its ALOT of work and supervision of whiny sales reps whom always want more. I then found an online lead source, that would text and email me real time leads...needless to say alot less of my time out knocking doors plus I fired the sales staff and made more money than ever!! It couldnt have been any easier! Just plug the address into my gps and I was shaking hands with my new customers with a check in the other hand...all within the hour of the lead text!

There's got to be something like this out there for web design...Has to be...

    • What types of clients are you looking for?

That should help a few Warriors put on their thinking caps with the new lead generation software they have purchased. I'm sure some will come to your rescue. Heck, it could even be me, ya never know!

Anyway, give us some ideas and we'll see what we can do for you.

      Cheers,

cchipster, John Durham is actually doing a test campaign where he hired a telemarketer to cold call clients and book you appointments. A couple of fellow warrior members are apart of this test and we are all eager to see what can happen.

I'd love to see you positioned as an expert in a certain vertical. There are far too few web designers who just take anything and everything, but if you were to focus your efforts and target a specific demographic, you'd dominate your niche.

For example, putting together a great web design package for real estate agents, coupling IDX solutions, SEO-friendly page structuring and beautiful design flows. Then you start the positioning portion.

Write a book and get it published on Amazon - there are a few WSO's on this topic, but what I like about it most is that it builds instant credibility for you and your company. You can bang this out in a week, here's the steps:

    1. Come up with 12 Categories for the book
    2. Then come up 8 sub-categories
    3. Then write 3-5 questions for each of your sub-category
    4. Then have someone interview, while you record the interview
    5. Have someone transcribe it all

    DONE! Instant credibility!

After that, contact real estate associations and ask if you could do a speaking engagement - as well as offering there members a free website (attached to a $97/mo. continuity for hosting/etc...)

There you go... instant leads that you don't have to pay anyone to go get you. You can do this in ANY niche, you just need to start positioning yourself.

    • Voasi,

That was excellent advice and very doable as well.

Maria Gudelis also has talked about this as well. I was on one of her Webinars and got very excited about the whole publishing idea and how it makes you look like an expert. She also went further and talked about how you could help get your clients published as well. THIS IS A VERY POWERFUL MARKETING STRATEGY to both you and your client.

If you hop on over to her blog, you can see where she's giving this ebook out for free now -- with a twist -- but you have to go and see for yourself

      Cheers,

        Thanks JMB for the kudos!

Voasi - in addition to the above and other great input here from fellow warriors (yes cold calling - even outsourcing it to a telemarketer or I did that with a odesk.com person I found - spoke perfect english, lives in the PH, and it was less than $350 PER month full time to hire him...I set him up with skype - a U.S. phone number and he was off to the races...)

Another thing you need to think about in your specific service offering....

        Is this:

If they need a 'website design, or a NEW website - if they don't have one at all'...

Well - they probably aren't going to be 'ONLINE' looking for you...

So in addition to all input here....another GREAT FAST strategy to have a huge amount of leads is to JOINT VENTURE / PARTNER with a company that has tons of leads/customers to hand over to you...

Seriously...one software company in the real estate niche had 80,000 customers they 'endorsed' my services for - as long as they got their 15%!

You only need ONE Joint Venture or Strategic Partner...and you don't have to worry about lead gen!

        How bigger companies get bigger?

They actually have a division called "Partner Channel" or "Strategic Alliances"..

What's so cool about the Internet...

Is that we can act like the big boys...and when we make the millions...well...we don't have all that overhead the big boys do!!

Oh to be 18 again to really rock this decade!! LOL

try:www.touchesoftware.com; they have software that can pull contact info from google map pages of local businesses. I find that many google map businesses do not have websites;can also download yellow pages biz info for local businesses with another software.

i look in online yellow pages for featured businesses, aka, paid ads. I think it's an easier upsell for offline, non yellowpages services

      @cchipster

As long as businesses are competing for customers, there'll always be a need for individuality as to what image is projected to the public (the customer source).
The methodology of how that image is presented and/or promoted to the consumer, is what requires your skillset, so there will always be work for you.

Voasi's comment on positioning is pertinent.

Good idea to post samples of your work. I'd love to see a website/facebook design specific to the real estate niche, among others.

Since you wish to 'move away from' telemarketing, perhaps you should consider buying leads from telemarketing agencies for now, if you can afford it, until you can streamline an alternative lead generation system.

3-4 months ago, I registered for membership at the Telemarketing Forum (TMF), a blogsite initiated and directed by CEO John Durham, see this very thread @ post #6 above.
Unlike John, Amir Luis, myob (@post #2,8,) and yourself, I have zero personal experience in cold calling, but I'm aware of the power of telemarketing as a method of lead generation...
..in other words, you're better qualified than I am, to join the TMF (LOL)... catch my drift ??

Not yet War Room member, insufficient posts so I cannot send or respond via PM.

        Cheers and good luck.
