Businesses that would benefit the most from a Press Release??

Not sure if there is a "best" answer to this question, but I am wondering if there is any type of business that would benefit more than other businesses from a press release.... nothing too crazy, just a well written PR, submitted to all the top PR sites..any insight or success stories would be greatly appreciated! Hi Ryan,

There isn't so much as an ideal business catagory.

The determining factor is the news worthyness
    of the release.

Most are nothing more than announcements,
which are totally dry and boring.

Newsworthy can be about a person/business
taking a stand against a common enemy.

An example could be a local bakery taking a stand against the "food police".

Because of all the diet books and experts are popping up
faster than pimples on a teen, this bakery makes a
biscuit with more butter, more chocolate, more sugar
and more cocoa than any other.

They give it a memorable name.

    That's it's stand.

    That's news material.

A key is to come up with emotive labels that are memorable.

    All the best,
    Ewen

There are 2 types of people in this world....those who get it and those who don't. The ones that get it know exactly what we are talking about. The ones who don't are left scratching their heads.

Every business can benefit from good publicity and pr. Small business doesn't really get the value or have the knowledge of when to use it. Offering local distribution helps in addition to online because small town papers are likely to pick it up, and that's what local businesses notice.

In my hometown the local newspaper will automatically cover your new business simply by calling the city editor and telling him about your business. They will let you write your own press release and even edit it so the locals can grasp the message. I live in a town of about 300k btw.

You may want to explore all of the media in your area because they all might want to hear from you. It doesn't cost anything but time to call them.

Before I forget, we have 5 TV stations and when news is slow, a guy w/a good story can get free coverage. You simply have to be persistent.

          Just my 2¢...

Just about all businesses benefit form press releases. Even if no one reads them you might still be able to reap a couple of backlinks for your site.

I should build an e-commerce site that only sells waffles. And maybe pancakes.
