First check in hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a crippling winter storm in the south, I was finally able to go on my first appointment today. The company has had the same number for yrs. Owner has made his money and blew it 2 times before. He is in a great location with a strong customer base. From previous conversations, I didn't figure I would be able to sell him a site right now. I was hoping to do more keywords for an SEO contract of $500/mth and $500 setup. I let the owner more or less sell himself and tell me exactly what he was looking for. I had good rupport with his young secretary(haha) so that definately helped since she was more tech savvy. I walked out of there with $250 check for setup and we will be doing this monthly. Long range, owner plans to add more keywords and a new site. For now, the agreement is first page for 3 low search terms. I will outsource all of this for probably around $50. Only a net of $200 upfront and around the same monthly. However, I think this can be a $500/mth contract in a couple mths . Also, he has been in business for yrs so has many contacts that I can get in with. I have an appointment for my big jewelry site on Wednesday. Hopefully, I will nail it. I went by the Chamber of Commerce today to pick up their directory and talk with them but they were closed due to MLK Day. I will check back Wed when I am in town. This is the first of many sales.

  • Congrats! Keep the ball rolling! Great story.
  • ROLLTIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You freakin' ROCK man....

I am so pumped for you!

I remember not to long ago you thought this was impossible.

I knew you would be a success story in the making...

why? Because you kept your head down and kept going. Even through the bumps in the road. If you can sell it once... you can sell it a thousand times...

Now that you have done it once. You know you can do it again. and again and again..

    sweeeeeeeet.....
  • Congratulations. I know it has been a long time coming for you, as you've mentioned trying various offline techniques and courses over the past few months, and I'm glad you persevered and stayed the course.

Don't be shy about asking for referrals, if you deliver on this contract, the business owner will gladly refer many others your way. Now that you've got your foot in the door, this'll make it much easier for you get additional clients in quick succession.

  • How do you plan to outsource this?
  • Did you contact these business by phone or by walking in to get things started?
  • Both of these were cold calls from free b2b lists
    • [1] reply
    • Hey Roll Tide!!!

Im sure the cold calling wasnt easy either... but here's the bottom line... If you were still waiting around for business to fall out of the sky instead of doing what you did "Taking the bull by the horns..." you wouldn't have those two sales right now!

I hope you look in the mirror today and bow to yourself and say "well done", and dont doubt for a second that this happened because you were able to master yourself to taking consistent action! That is rare.

You owe every bit of this to the fact that you are that 1 in 100 person who has the audacity to stand up and fight for their dreams, even if it isnt easy at first!

There's a part inside that might say "Its a fluke" or "I just got lucky"... but dont believe it. You did every bit of this.

You did it intentionally, on purpose, deliberately, at your will... and you will do it again as many times as you want to, the same way!

Good job taking freakin CONTROL of your Biz and deciding that YOU will be the person who decides your numbers, not some algorithm!

You are an inspiration to us all.

Sorry man, didnt meant to rant, I just admire courage alot!

  • I read "Go it alone" and this is a perfect example of that!! He calls this hyper outsourcing. Thanks for sharing you wins!!
  • Awesome!

    Way to go!
  • Keep track of the step-by-step process you went through to do this. Document it well, fill in the details, and turn around to help someone else do the same process. This creates your info product and adds revenue!
  • That video was AWESOME john....

The moral of the story... Just Keep GOING...

You can do more than what your mind tells you... No matter how great your mind thinks you are.... it still limits your potential.
    • [1] reply

    • ..and eventually once you have momentum you tweak it to be systems dependent instead of being dependent on YOU... and your mind gets a little free'er.

Abraham Maslow defines it best with the pyramid of hierarchy here:

The more we succeed, the free'r we become as humans... there are two operation systems "survival mode" and "Creative mode".

At first we are 90% survival and only 10% creative mode. By achieving a modicum of success, we are able to turn that number around and ultimately become more of a contributor to life.

      Physiological needs

For the most part, physiological needs are obvious — they are the literal requirements for human survival. If these requirements are not met, the human body simply cannot continue to function.
Air, water, and food are metabolic requirements for survival in all animals, including humans. Clothing and shelter provide necessary protection from the elements. The intensity of the human sexual instinct is shaped more by sexual competition than maintaining a birth rate adequate to survival of the species.
      Safety needs

With their physical needs relatively satisfied, the individual's safety needs take precedence and dominate behavior. These needs have to do with people's yearning for a predictable orderly world in which perceived unfairness and inconsistency are under control, the familiar frequent and the unfamiliar rare. In the world of work, these safety needs manifest themselves in such things as a preference for job security, grievance procedures for protecting the individual from unilateral authority, savings accounts, insurance policies, reasonable disability accommodations, and the like.
      Safety and Security needs include:
      • Personal security
      • Financial security
      • Health and well-being
      • Safety net against accidents/illness and their adverse impacts
      Love and belonging

After physiological and safety needs are fulfilled, the third layer of human needs are social and involve feelings of belongingness. This aspect of Maslow's hierarchy involves emotionally based relationships in general, such as:
      • Friendship
      • Intimacy
      • Family
Humans need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, whether it comes from a large social group, such as clubs, office culture, religious groups, professional organizations, sports teams, gangs, or small social connections (family members, intimate partners, mentors, close colleagues, confidants). They need to love and be loved (sexually and non-sexually) by others. In the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and clinical depression. This need for belonging can often overcome the physiological and security needs, depending on the strength of the peer pressure; an anorexic, for example, may ignore the need to eat and the security of health for a feeling of control and belonging.[citation needed]
      Esteem

All humans have a need to be respected and to have self-esteem and self-respect. Also known as the belonging need, esteem presents the normal human desire to be accepted and valued by others. People need to engage themselves to gain recognition and have an activity or activities that give the person a sense of contribution, to feel accepted and self-valued, be it in a profession or hobby. Imbalances at this level can result in low self-esteem or an inferiority complex. People with low self-esteem need respect from others. They may seek fame or glory, which again depends on others. Note, however, that many people with low self-esteem will not be able to improve their view of themselves simply by receiving fame, respect, and glory externally, but must first accept themselves internally. Psychological imbalances such as depression can also prevent one from obtaining self-esteem on both levels.
Most people have a need for a stable self-respect and self-esteem. Maslow noted two versions of esteem needs, a lower one and a higher one. The lower one is the need for the respect of others, the need for status, recognition, fame, prestige, and attention. The higher one is the need for self-respect, the need for strength, competence, mastery, self-confidence, independence and freedom. The latter one ranks higher because it rests more on inner competence won through experience. Deprivation of these needs can lead to an inferiority complex, weakness and helplessness.
Maslow also states that even though these are examples of how the quest for knowledge is separate from basic needs he warns that these “two hierarchies are interrelated rather than sharply separated” (Maslow 97). This means that this level of need, as well as the next and highest level, are not strict, separate levels but closely related to others, and this is possibly the reason that these two levels of need are left out of most textbooks.
      Self-actualization

“What a man can be, he must be.”[8] This forms the basis of the perceived need for self-actualization. This level of need pertains to what a person's full potential is and realizing that potential. Maslow describes this desire as the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.[9] This is a broad definition of the need for self-actualization, but when applied to individuals the need is specific. For example one individual may have the strong desire to become an ideal parent, in another it may be expressed athletically, and in another it may be expressed in painting, pictures, or inventions.[10]

    • Holy crap.... That was a lot to digest... but explains a lot of what I have been going through as of late and why I am doing what I am in the process of doing.
  • Not at all John. I found it interesting. Thanks for sharing!
  • Thanks for the posts and video John.

Why, oh why, did I not see that movie? I love that kind of stuff. I read everything about the SEALs I can for those same reasons. You can always do more than you "think" you can.

And yes, we all "know" it, but how many of us "get" or "believe" truly?

(It also made me want to put the donut down and go work out.)

    • Lol. Me too. It reminds you of times when you have felt that gut level strength within, and makes you crave feeling it again. This has got to be the greatest motivational clip of all time.
  • Thanks Randy... I hope this helps. It has helped me alot. Og Mandino has all the answers man!

and now I recognize this secret mined from the depths of all courageous hearts.

Now I know that action reduces the lion of terror to an ant of equanimity. I will act now.

I can condition my mind to perform every act necessary for my success.... I will act now.

When I enter the market place I will act NOW and .

When I face a closed door I will say them and knock while the failure waits outside with fear and trepidation. I will act now.

I will multiply my actions.[/color][/i] I will work when the failure seeks rest.

I will talk when the failure remains silent.

I will say it is done before the failure says it is too late. I will act now.

For now is all I have. I am not lazy.

Tomorrow is the day when the evil becomes good. I am not evil.

Tomorrow is the day when the weak becomes strong. I am not weak.

Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now.

When the lion is hungry he eats. When the eagle has thirst he drinks. Lest they act, both will perish. I hunger for success. I thirst for happiness and peace of mind. Lest I act I will perish in a life of failure, misery, and sleepless nights.

    Success will not wait.

    I will act now.

    • Hi John,

Thanks for reminding me about Og Mandino. Through his books, he was a guru to me back in the early 80's. I was so inspired by Og that I once sent him a gushing letter of appreciation. He was kind enough to write back with a message of encouragement and of course, inspiration!

John, I will print out the quote that you included in your post and keep it with me as I go about my business this week.

      All the Best!

      Randy
