*How do you master a 'keyword' in local seo?
*What is the cost method explaination to a local business owner on these keywords??
*What is the 'SUREFIRE' method to #1 page on Google for local SEO?

Thanks guys in advance. This forum is meant to be a useful and helpful tool. Although alot of people squeeze it big time for profits, I'd appreciate some good, honest and straight forward warrior advice!

@ Dexx: Yes, I know there are SEO threads for days, but rather than reading 5 million point of views, rather just have targeted to my specific questions. How's your forum doing btw?

@ Rafterman: Good stuff and seems to the point. I like that! As far as ROI explaination to a new client, is hard, because do you really want to GUARANTEE them ROI? What if you are charging say $500 a mo. and working your a** off for them, but not getting any buyers to the biz? (worst case scenario)

Also, mind going into a little more depth on: keyword optimization in description, citations, optimized images, video, kml site map, geo site map? Will try the squidoo and hubpages + backlinking. Got any cool outsources for this for a reasonable price?

@Redcell: Thanks for the input. I meant google organic page #1 rank! My client is a naturopathic MD and want to blow up his site and biz locally... keywords like: naturalpathic treatment, natural cancer, pain management

      @Hastla: Thx

@trafficforfree: really? free forums like craigs? how many post could one realistically work up into google? I am not at all familiar with hubpage/squidoo? Maybe I need to be?

Sum up: I recall merchant circle as being hot for local listings. I used to pump an ad there and would see on google #1 in weeks. Not anymore? Anyone know of a pay site or anything that turns quick #1 google relaistically fast for local niche stuff?

I could give you a bunch of info, but it will be a bit out of context.

Some of what I would advise you to consider in a nutshell...

        1. Well optimized GP listing
        2. Targeted citations
        3. Reviews - 5+ on GP, and 10+ on 2-3 other citations
        4. On-site SEO - very important now.
        5. Off-site SEO
        6. Google Maps
        7. KML
        8. Geo-targeting - pictures and videos

These type practices will get you ahead of 90% of most markets, and usually keep you ranked well.

Google doesn't pull citations from all the directories. its gotta be well trusted ones. in the US, Judys book, city search and yell . these are good places to post your business listings .

    1. Not sure what you mean by "master"

    2. Best way to explain it to a business owner. what is a new client worth to them? Survey and research says to a dentist, a new patient is worth 1k, to a chiro it's worth 2k. You want to assure them they'll be getting a great ROI for your services.

    3. #1 in local seo = keyword optimization in description, citations, optimized images, video, kml site map, geo site map.

    4. Use web 2 pages like hubpages and squidoo to get to page 1 in small markets with not a lot of backlinks to your page. Say about 100-200. Blog comment or forum posting. Doesn't take a lot of anchor text one ways.

    Hope this helps.

secrets.... more like common sense. for us that is. business owners, that's another story.

well to master a keyword it depends if its long tail or short.
Example - handyman in orange county is a bit long but highly competitve. Should not take more then $100 of outsourcing to dominate because most local websites do not have backlinks.
For google maps - try any of the WSO's that teach you the tips/secrets to have your client listing rank number 1.

These keywords- just ask them "what does your customer type in when they search for your business/industry?"

for local seo do you mean google listing, their website or both ? It really does depend on what your meaning is. I would say that both onsite optimization and a well done google listing will help dominate. One other thing I do mention to my clients is reviews, those will clearly get you more calls as long as they are honest, good reviews.

      Hi,

in my opinion it depends to stron to the industry and niche. Not every keyword delievers traffic, not every traffic-keyword has huge commerciality.

So in my opinion it`s not a formula what will guarantee top1 - when somebody want to find out this, you have to get in detail to every keyword, research them and have a look at comparison. I know just one keyword research tool what use nearly all API`s from different providers (paid ones -> SEOMOZ, Sistrix, ACrank, ...). So finally this software cost about 1500Euro per month and I think it`s really the only one, what can you analyze some link-profile to nearly 100%.

In my opinion too, all industry or niche has it`s own differences and need specific research, have other targets and of course a complete different competition. Have a nice day!

A great free way to drive targeted local backlinks and traffic to your business and website would be advertising with Craigs list, and other such free advertising sites.

Also I would make a new hubpage/squidoo lens for every product you have, then publish 5ish articles pointing at those sites, making sure that they include links to your own site as well.

        I hope this helps

Using "offsite" seo techniques can definitely bring you in your targeted traffic fast if done right. Articles, blogs, video sites like youtube which google owns, and press releases are powerful because you combine social media views and if seo optimized right, you gain top rankings fast on the search engines.
