How To Make More Money With Your Offline Business

One of the biggest problems that I see with those who are struggling with their offline business - and even those who are seeing some moderate success but want to take it to the next level - is this:

A lack of a clear plan for reaching their objectives.

They suffer from two common e-afflictions:

1. "Shiny Bling Syndrome" - a disorder which is marked by constant adjustment of activities to attempt the latest "technique" that catches their eye.

2. "I Can Do Everything Syndrome" - a disorder that is marked by trying to do too many things at once and subsequently not doing any of them well.

What contractor would throw a bunch of nails, wood, electric wires, plumbing pipes and roofing shingles in a pile and say, "Okay, let's build this house"? A contractor creates and carefully refers to a blueprint.

You need a blueprint. A strategy. A systematic approach to building your Offline business.

Warning: Until you have that in place, you limit yourself in what you can achieve. So, right now, let's develop a strategy for your consultant business.

You're probably thinking that we need to set a bunch of goals for our consulting business... well, you're partly right.

What we actually need to do is set one major goal:

How do we make $100,000 per year just working a few hours per day?

As an offline marketer we can offer services that pertain to the internet for offline clients or we can do more.

I suggest that we look at our clients in a different way.

WARNING: What we are going to do goes in the face of what most offline marketers think about. I have made thousands and thousands of dollars working in this way, for years... The offline craze just made what I do EASIER!

Think for a moment how much your bottom line would increase if your clients paid you not only for services you provided for internet marketing, but for other marketing and business development services.

Sure, once you get a client, you can show them the value of setting up an autoreponder and getting on the front page of Google... that's the easy part. You can come back with a check for $500 - $1500 or more... with $100 a month, for example.

However, you can take that very same client, spend a little time with them, and make $3000 a month for 12 months... with a $20,000 payday at the end.

That's much better, isn't it?

But you've got to be prepared for it, don't you?

You've got to learn how to look at not only how a business markets on the internet, or doesn't, but also how they run their business.

Yes, I know, this is more work... but so worth it.

Helping a business go online is just the first step. But once you are in the door, you've got it made when you play your cards right.

You've got to set yourself up as a business consultant, not just an internet maven. People have a tendency to buttonhole you, to put you in a box...

"This is my marketing guy... here's my internet lady... I want you to meet my ad expert, etc., etc., etc.

If you can add some extra to what you are doing, then, you can write your own ticket in this game.

It can work for you.

Agreed, the lack of a proper marketing process is what leads to most of the frustration most consultants struggle with getting started.

Fortunately there's plenty of great courses and experienced consultants around that they CAN get assistance from once they realize the futility in hopping from WSO-to-WSO in hopes of "getting results."

Its kind of like buying the latest and greatest hammer in hopes of building a beautiful house...the hammer is just one tool used in the construction of the project...not the "make or break" magical solution.

      Good post.

Many of the suggestions I make in a business have nothing to do with the internet or are driven by offline processes.

Once you understand some basic marketing principles and you've worked with a few businesses you begin to see simple things a business can change everywhere and many of these small changes which cost little or nothing can make a huge increase in profits.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

Brand yourself as a leader in your industry, create a complete LinkedIn Profile, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter account for yourself first. Offline clients will do their research to check your out. Make sure you have client list and testimonials on your website. This has been the BIGGEST key to my success.
