I was wondering if anyone can share some of their scripts for cold calling. I absolutely hate calling people. Always think that I am bothering people.

SO, I was hoping to get some quick replies of what your saying on the phone to open up the conversation.

ps. has anyone bothered calling on electricians? Or is that a niche that is already busy and dont see the benefit of retail?

  • Hi,

Here's a short and sweet one that has worked pretty well, that you may be able to adapt :

    Hello, can I speak to

..the part about "if you DON'T die..." really is a conversation-starter

    • ROTFLMAO! Thanks.

I once consulted the owners of a "grave yard" and helped them start a small telemarketing room to set appointments for their "Burial Insurance" salesman.

    • Ha! "if you don't die"

Does mutual of omaha know something about immortality that the rest of us do not?

    • I don't do any telemarking , but here goes:

"Hi my name is _____ and i'm the director of marketing over at _____. I was doing some research for another client of mine, and I came across your business. I'd like to take a minute and talk to you about your web marketing strategy"

"Did you know that (your type of business)(your city) gets searched for in google xxxxx times a month?" You can guess what these people are looking for, YOU! But you might as well be invisible, because your business isn't showing up"

"Studies show that almost no one will click past the first page of google. You're on page 7. They are NEVER going to find you."

"I'd like to schedule a free consultation at your convenience to talk about this in detail, and come up with some effective strategies. When is a good time for me to come in?"

Customize that as you see fit. Main point is don't ask yes/no questions if you can help it. don't let them say no.

      Cheers

    • Haha yeah, after typing that out, I almost want to try a cold call.
  • Point is, when doing and following scripts for cold calling;

    1) Never set the prospects in a situation, where they can say NO.

Do not say, have you ever thougt of building a new website ?

Say instead; Building a new website will do your more business, could you please tell me, how do your use your current website !!!

    2) Put up open questions, that has to be answered with a longer answer, which is related to their business and has an element of emotions behind.

FX. What do you think is the most important succesfactor, for running and staying in business for the next two years ?

    3) Force the prospective client to answer between two lines, that you have already picked, fx do not say, WHEN WE MEET,

Take control of the conversation and say instead, I can meet you or teleconference you at wed. of friday - which day is best for you ?

I can do it between 10 and 12 am, which time will suit you best ?

This way, you wont get no´s, you show interest in the businessowner, you force the client into your chioces and you are in control of the conversation.

This is technique, and takes a lot of practice to master.

    Good luck, LASSE

  • At Lassekou,

I have to say on this line... "have you ever thougt of building a new website" ?

We had two success reports just today alone at TMF with people using it.

But I have to say, on this line:

"how do your use your current website" !!!

I like this line even better!

Or maybe "What have you been experiencing with your current website..."?

    Good stuff.
  • Good comments guys. Keep them coming. I am taking more notes and trying to put together 3 different scripts and then see which ones work the best.

  • The Dani Johnson, Call to Freedom website has all sorts of scripts for cold calling. But basically, you want to leave the caller with something to solve a problem for them. So just introduce yourself, briefly tell them how you can help or improve their lives, confirm their email or mailing address, and ask them if you can follow up. Then send them what you like and make sure to call back after a couple of days.
  • I too hate cold calling ...so I dont! I set up a facebook "Closed Group" for a niche market, after 45 days over 400 people in this niche have started using the group. Next week I'm doing a live show through live straem on the groups wall, its been working very well to uncover people who need my services. Its a lot of work but it has resulted in over $12K in sales. The next step is build the largest data base for this niche and start emailing them. I simply gave them a place to meet one another.

    • Wow! Nice job!
    • That sounds cool... way to think outside the box.

I have been playing with Facebook marketing too. I just don't have enough solid success with it to talk about.

I absolutely believe in Multiple Concurrent Marketing Streams. Cold Calling is not what a LOT of people like to do... but it works when the chips are down....

      Would like to know more....

You can shoot me a PM if you want....
    • Wow, good job!

You got amazing results from this, though I don't see how to set this up. What was the official purpose of the "Closed Group" that got the people to sign?
  • nice scripts
  • As for cold calling, I did a bunch last week, and got all my results when I called businesses from my OWN TOWN, and introduced myself as one of the bizz in the area, wanting to talk to fellow owners. Great ice breaker. All out of town calls didn't get me results, but hey, it's a numbers game. I don't expect much so I'm relaxed and hard to disappoint. 2-3 meetings out of 250 calls is what I shoot for.

It's always super hard BEFORE you start, then goes fairly easy. Overall, people are friendly. I don't have endurance for more than 2 hours though. I don't get how telemarketers can do 7-8 hour days.
  • Even Though I don't do cold calling anymore The scripts I got from GOGETTER on this forum were very helpful and worked. I am not an affiliate of his but I can honestly say that his stuff works, Like how to get past the gatekeeper. Just do a search for him on this forum. I promise he has good info.
