So I found a buffet that ranks #1 on google places for "city+buffet" even though the listing isn't verified and isn't even linked to their website. They have excellent reviews though, so that must be it.

The question is about something else however. They had a 1-page website made by the yellowpages. How much does the yellowpages charge, does anybody know? I found that they offer things like 1-page 3-page 5-page deals, but am wondering what they're selling them at.

What about yellowpages ads in the yellowbook?

I wonder about this too, I run an offline/online consulting business and I think I should just call up or do the research myself on what all the normal print advertising costs are.

Well yeah, that's the way to find out, but I figured since most of us deal with the same thing in this subforum, someone had already done it and wouldn't mind sharing the info.

I would contact Yellowpages posing as a company and find out!

Heres a question I will pose to fellow marketers.

If you lived in a community of 20,000 households, and you had $500 a month to put into motion. Would you rather:
    1. have a nice half page ad with a great offer in the Yellow Pages book, which is in every residence?
    2. Send out 2000 post cards with a great offer each month for a year? (either to every household once, or multiple hits on fewer numbers whichever you prefer)

Why would you choose what you choose?

Every Residence? I haven't kept a yellowpages in years, and most people don't bother with yellowpages anymore.

Kirrybows, every publisher has a rate card specific to each individual market based on distribution. If you call and ask for a quote, you may get varied answers depending on the sales rep, who may be under the gun for quota and could offer different proposals for identical ads.

It's literally across the board from a couple hundred $ per year to thousands per year, depending on size of ad, size of market, etc...

The best way is indeed to just call and ask for a standard rate card for the market.

Don't forget there are multiple, competing publishers now in most markets.

Think about chunky mail not simply a postcard and forget about the yellow pages. They are only good for getting the addresses (for leads) as most people don't even use them anymore.

In my apartment building (125 apartments, middle class) only about 10 people take their new copy of the yellow pages when they get delivered and this has been a steady decline over the last few years.

Why not use the signs to tell you what the market is doing, hence my marketing company does not recommend the use of yellow pages but does recommend using similar funding for a real successful online campaign.

Dude the yellow pages books aren't even being printed after this year in a lot of place. The cards arent great as they arent gonna be targeted but its better than nothing I guess. Keep thinking is my suggestion.
